The Parish Survey results are in!

A big thank you to the 240 people who completed the survey and made a collective 1270 comments!  Wow!  For context, we have 700-800 Active Households in the parish.  ("Active" meaning: have donated or registered in the past year, school families and/or religious education families.  This is the best approximation we can make with the data we have.)  

The demographics of those who answered the survey seems consistent with the overall parish demographics, so we hope to have a fair representation of the "voice of the people."  The Parish Transformation Project team will be analyzing and interpreting the data and will communicate findings to the parish over the next several weeks.

As a teaser, here are some quick facts:

• Over 90% believe St. Josaphat effectively supports families in forming their children in faith.
• Over 80% believe that St. Josaphat devotes an appropriate amount of energy to serving the poor, inspires them to seek a deeper relationship with God, and believe a new parishioner would say St. Josaphat is welcoming.
• Words most used to describe St. Josaphat were:  Community, Welcoming, Family-Friendly.
• 92% like liturgy to be Informal or "Somewhere in between Formal and Informal".  92% also Feel Comfortable or Mostly Feel Comfortable with our style of prayer.
• Words most used to describe the liturgy and homilies were:  Relevant, Relate-able, Accepting, Contemporary. 
• 75% feel that our music helps their prayer during mass. 
• People are most interested in getting involved in Service Opportunities in Chicago, Social Gatherings and Activities to Support Raising Children in the Faith. 
• 81% of respondents report Always or Sometimes setting aside time for daily prayer.
• 84% report a Fair to Strong relationship with Christ.
• 84% believe their Catholic faith influences their daily decisions and relationships, however, and 33% would like to learn practical ways to evangelize in my daily life.
• 81% believe our finances are transparent, or at least the information is available.
• The Bulletin and email are preferred methods of communication for parish information, 70% think so.
• 86% of respondents read the bulletin most weeks.
