WHAT: Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare is very proud to announce the official opening of a new 30 Bed Rehab Unit on the first floor of the Emara Building (Dr. Y. Emara Centre for Healthy Aging and Mobility). In addition to the new look rehabilitation room, there are also two specialized geriatrics physicians added to the services of HDGH. As of Monday January 11th, 2016, HDGH began to admit the first of an eventual 30 patients.
We would like to invite you for a private tour of the 1South Rehab unit to showcase our move from a 60 bed to 90 bed rehab program. This is an exciting time for the health system in Windsor-Essex as it allows HDGH to provide the right care in the right place, and to increase system flow.
"The expansion of our rehab program allows us to begin targeted cohorting of like patients providing for more specialized care. More importantly, we'll be able to get patients here more quickly which means they can then start their rehabilitation and return to their daily routines," said HDGH President and CEO, Janice Kaffer.
The expansion to the HDGH rehab program also allows for increased efficiency of movement throughout the entire system, both in acute and post-acute facilities.
David Musyj, Windsor Regional President and CEO, says "The addition of the 30 rehab beds at HDGH will help support increased patient flow through the healthcare system, freeing up much needed beds in acute care faster."
Of the ten patients admitted to the new unit this week; six have been transferred from WRH Ouellette and Met campuses and four have been transferred internally.
Interview opportunities include unit physicians, specifically Dr. Robert Biswas one of the two Geriatric physicians assigned to 1South Rehab who has returned home to his roots to serve Windsor's growing aging population.
The HDGH Executive team will also be in attendance, including Janice Kaffer, Bill Marra and Project Coordinator Terra Cadeau, Director of Strategic Planning, PMO and
New Business Development.
