December Cover to Cover
Our monthly  Cover to Cover  conference call  will feature  William McCants  on   The ISIS Apocalypse: The History, Strategy, and Doomsday Vision of the Islamic State. The call will take place on Wednesday, December 16, at 2:00-2:30 PM ET.

The Islamic State is one of the most lethal and successful jihadist groups in modern history, surpassing even al-Qaeda. The ISIS Apocalypse   is based almost entirely on primary sources in Arabic-including ancient religious texts and secret al-Qaeda and Islamic State letters that few have seen. The book explores how religious fervor, strategic calculation, and doomsday prophecy shaped the Islamic State's past and foreshadow its dark future.

William McCants is the Director of the project on U.S. Relations with the Islamic World at the Brookings Institution, and a fellow at the Center for Middle East Policy. He is an adjunct faculty at Johns Hopkins University and has held various government and think tank positions related to Islam, the Middle East, and terrorism. He served as a U.S. State Department senior adviser for countering violent extremism, and held positions as program manager of the Minerva Initiative for the Department of Defense; an analyst at the Institute for Defense Analyses, the Center for Naval Analyses, and SAIC.  ( Full Bio )
