Health Tip of the Week
As you prepare for the holiday festivities, remember that everything is good in moderation from exercise to video games - water, and of course Thanksgiving dinner - everything is good in moderation.
Student Pick Up and Drop Off Locations
In the morning, student drop off will be along Sampson Street where students will be able to enter through the gate and main entrance.
Please drop your child off on the school side of the street so they do not have to cross through traffic.

In the afternoon, car pick up is along Jefferson Street only. Students must exit out the end of the sophomore hallway and meet their vehicle on Jefferson Steet. Students will not be allowed to cross Sampson Street to meet vehicles.
Visitor and Parent Parking
Parking for parents and visitors to our campus is parallel parking on Sampson Street.  The only entrance for visitors and parents is our main entrance on Sampson Street.  In order to meet safety and security needs all other doors will be locked.
Official ADA Time
Energy's official ADA time this year is
10:10 AM.
Please schedule your child's appointments so that he or she is back to school by 10:10 AM or leaves after 10:10 AM. We receive our funding based on attendance at this time. Funding allows us to provide more for your child!
Special Thanks

Energy's ACE Mentor students attended Build Forward this past Saturday.   This event brings together students involved in the ACE Mentor Program and industry wide professionals to build storage benches that will be delivered to area charitable organizations.  This was a great opportunity to learn what the mentor program does as well as network with future and current ACE industry professionals.  We are so proud of our ACE Mentorship students for taking advantage of these opportunities and for giving back to their community!
First Robotics Team
Our First Robotics Competition team, led by Ms. Alexander, received exciting news this weekend. Earlier this semester they applied for two rants and found out this weekend they have been awarded both!

The first, through the Argosy Foundation in partnership with FIRST Robotics, will commit funds through next years program.

The second is a grant through our local partners here at NASA. The NASA grant is notoriously difficult to get; Energy was selected as one of only 30 Rookie teams (out of ~300 who applied) to receive the grant this year, and the only one from Texas!

Thanks to their support, and support from the Texas Workforce Commission, our team has secured enough financial resources to possibly compete in 3 Regional tournaments this season, which is typically reserved for very veteran and elite teams. This greatly improves our chances at winning a spot at World Championships (and bringing home a Rookie All-Star award) and gives our students incredible opportunities to continue to improve their design over the season as they interact with and learn from over a hundred other teams.

We are looking forward to an amazing season!

First Robotics Team members - please mark your calendar for a mandatory student and parent meeting at 6:30pm.  You must be in attendance in order to participate this season.
Student of the Week  written by: Amanda Rodriguez

This week's Energy Student of the week is ninth grade student Jerina Mnyapara.  Nominated by her World Geography teacher Ms. Ratliff. Ms. Ratliff nominted Jerina because, "she is always positive and engaged in class.  She has been put into a variety of groups and works collaboratively with all group members.  She asks questions that help clarify misunderstandings for her group members and self-advocates when necessary.  She is very good at keeping her classmates on task." Jerina is a very focused student, "thinking about my future is what drives me to succeed."  She completes all of her work and turns it in on time, but most importantly she is a very helpful student.  Jerina chose Energy because she wants to be an engineer and follow in her father's footsteps. "Energy has a lot of unique opportunities.  The environment here allows us the freedom to experiment with our interests and find out what we really like.  We are treated like adults and it keeps me motivated to work hard, impress my teacher, and take advantage of all the opportunities I can."  Jerina wants to attend a top Engineering school in the country when she graduates from Energy.  "I want to be successful and make my parents proud!" We are excited to see all the great things Jerina accomplishes while here at Energy and know she has a bright future ahead!
Important Updates
All ninth grade students will be participating in their first grade level field trip December 10th to the Offshore Energy Center.  Permission slips need to be signed and returned to cohort teachers ASAP.  Students are required to wear an Energy school polo in order to be in field trip dress code.  If you have not yet purchased your Energy polo you can do so online by visiting the Energy Boosters  store!
