Canadian Society of Hydrological Sciences 
Professional Hydrology Certification
 
The Canadian Society for Hydrological Sciences (CSHS) is currently exploring the level of interest among the hydrological and water resources community for professional hydrology certification in Canada. Several jurisdictions outside of Canada have already established a professional certification for hydrologists. One example is the American Institute of Hydrology.

The results of this anonymous survey will be presented and discussed at the CSHS Annual General Meeting at the upcoming 2016 Canadian Water Resources Association (CWRA) Conference in Montreal on May 25. Results will also be posted to the CSHS website.

Meg Olson and Greg Schellenberg, National SYP Reps for CWRA, are planning a call before the National Conference in Montreal, May 25-27 to discuss the newest version of the Student and Young Professional handbook, the upcoming Annual Conference and AGM in Montreal, and how to best engage new SYP representatives from across the country.

CWRA Manitoba Branch Luncheon 
Annual General Meeting

Thursday, May 12, 2016

Dr.  Henry David (Hank) Venema and Dr. Danny Blair will be presenting on The Prairie Climate Centre, a joint initiative of the University of Winnipeg and the International Institute for Sustainable Development.  This newly developed centre assists governments, businesses and community members identify and anticipate risks, take advantage of emerging opportunities, build capacity, and enhance economic and environmental resilience to climate change. 
 
 
CWRA Manitoba Branch will be hosting its Annual General Meeting immediately following the luncheon presentation on May 12 th, 2016 .  All CWRA Members residing in Manitoba are welcome to attend this meeting.  

In addition to general AGM agenda items including elections of the Manitoba Branch Board of Directors and Executive, members will also vote on new by-laws for the branch.  Members are encouraged to review the proposed by-laws prior to the meeting.  The last update was in 2008 and the proposed changes ensure that the Branch's by-laws are consistent with provincial regulations and align with CWRA National By-Laws.

69TH NATIONAL CWRA CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENTS
Notice to all CWRA Members: 

CWRA Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 5p.m. EDT at the Hotel Bonaventure in conjunction with this year's Annual Conference being held in Montreal.  All CWRA members are invited to attend this meeting.  

Elections of the CWRA Executive and BOD members will be held at the AGM.  The Nominations Committee is now accepting any nominations for the following CWRA Executive Positions:  President, President-Elect, Treasurer and Secretary.  All CWRA Branches and Affiliates are also asked to submit the names of their National Directors to the Nominations Committee prior to the meeting.  Only CWRA members in good standing can be nominated.

The Township of Langley, British Columbia is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Water Resources Planning Engineer to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division; Water Resources and Environment Department. Reporting to the Manager of Water Resources & Environment, you will be responsible for overall management of surface water issues. Responsibilities will include management of large scale watershed and floodplain studies, identification of infrastructure upgrades, review of development applications, and implementation of innovative storm water design criteria. This position requires a high level of creativity, leadership, and energy.


Stantec is seeking applicants for a Surface Water Lead that will be part of our Environmental Services leadership team. This position can be based in our Nova Scotia, New Brunswick or Newfoundland offices and will involve leading and growing a team of local surface water experts. Who We Are

CWRA  is a nonprofit, charitable organization that began in 1947 as the Western Canada Reclamation Association, and today serves as the "professional voice" of water management in Canada.  

It operates largely on volunteer efforts and has provincial branches throughout the country. Quarterly publications like the  Canadian Water Resources Journal and   are available to members.  
 
CWRA is also supported by its affiliate organizations:   Canadian Committee on Irrigation and Drainage (CANCID) and the  Canadian Society for Hydrological Sciences (CSHS) , and the CWRA Student and Young Professional (SYP) Chapters across Canada.  CWRA also serves as the host organization for Project WET Canada.
