Her name is Shannon Clarke and she will be starting on May 2.  So stop by to introduce yourself when you get a chance.  A huge thank you to Hope Olson for volunteering in the office during the vacancy.

Affirmation of Baptism
This Sunday, 14 of our young people will be affirming their baptism (confirmation) at a special worship service at 11:30.  I know that in the past, space issues gave rise to the need to have a special service, but I am hoping that many of you will join us for the service at 11:30.  As a congregation you were there when they were baptized 14 years ago, and you promised to help them grow in faith.  It would be great if you could be there to help them celebrate this milestone as well.  They will each be sharing their personal faith statement.  Worship will be lead by our youth and the youth band (The Way, the Truth and the Life). Please continue to keep our young people in your prayers throughout their faith journey.

A big thank you to Christy Canfield and the small group leaders: Steve Kaufman, Rachelle Schroeder, Katie Wawra, Carly Wood and Helen Stoeckel for guiding and mentoring them along with the members of Joy who have taught Sunday School and helped provide for faith formation.

Quilt Ministry
On Sunday, April 17th, thirty quilts made by our Joyful Quilters were dedicated and blessed at both church services. Thanks to all the quilters who met weekly and made these quilts from last January through March: Rosemary Alexander, Char Burgeson, Sharyn Calton, Rosie Culhane, Bobbie Flatz, Georgia Freidel, Phyllis Hoffmann, Linda Johnson, Mary Jonikas, Loretta Knight, Karen Lehman, Karen Lundgaard, Cindy McNeill, Diane Meyer, Joan Northouse, Tammy Orf, Joan Schaack, and Wilma Timm.
Visit to Lutheran World Relief Warehouse
On Wednesday, April 20th, several of the quilters delivered the quilts to the Lutheran World Relief Warehouse in South St. Paul and received a tour of that packing facility. The quilters report that it was fascinating to see how thousands of quilts made by quilters from all over the United States are packed into bundles of about 30 quilts each and bagged and then shipped to places all over the world to help people in need. Thanks to our quilters, who by their time and labors, are reaching out across the world to extend help and aid where so desperately needed!

Thank you
Letter from Executive Director of the Women of the ELCA sent to Joy Lutheran Church Women and Joy congregation after our Thank Offering Gift of $700
was received:
Dear Joy Lutheran Church Women of the ELCA,
Thank you for supporting the ministries of Women of the ELCA with your gift of $700. Your faithful generosity makes a real difference. Thank you!
In 2015, among other projects, Women of the ELCA planned and presented a creative program to teach the youth of the church about human trafficking at the ELCA Youth Gathering--what will 2016 bring? New projects and ministries are ready to be taken up -- and thanks to your generosity, Women of the ELCA will be ready and able to take up these new ministries with joy.
In the meantime, your churchwide board and staff members are working on plans for the Tenth Triennial Gathering to be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, July 13--16, 2017. Keep an eye on www.welcatg.org for more information as it becomes available.
Your generosity makes all this possible, and so much more. Thank you. To learn more about our ever-growing work together, please see www.womenoftheelca.org.
Your giving really does make a difference. Thank you.
With gratitude, Linda Post Bushkovsky, Executive Director
