Bossing ...
Tommy Brewer has been strong minded and strong physically throughout the 2015/16 campaign. No matter what has been thrown at him he has stood firm and ensured the Swans earned their place in the Ryman Premier next season. Lots of nerves, lots of poor results have not affected the Swans captain on the pitch and ably supported by free scoring Pat Cox up front and Jack Turner in goal, These 3 have seen lots of changes but have steered the Swans to safety as the season moves to the final game on Saturday at home to Canvey Island.
The
Gulls come to
Wheatsheaf Park on the back of a 3-3 draw with Burgess Hill Town and sit a couple of places above the Swans. The Swans won 3-2 at Canvey early in December and will be looking forward to welcoming the Gulls. Prior to the draw with the
Hillians came a 1-0 victory against
Met Police and prior to that 3 defeats. Pat Cox is on the hunt for 30 goals so it will definitely not be an end of season game this one.
The Swans welcome you all to come along and get behind the boys ... KO 3pm at Wheatsheaf Park.
Daniel Brown proved he is a chip off the old block with a masterly midfield display capped by a winning goal as
Staines Town beat
Kingstonian 1-0 on Sunday (April 17).
Classy midfielder Brown - son of Swans assistant manager Dereck, himself one of Woking's all-time greatest players - capitalised on a long throw from Ryan Case in only the second minute to nod in from close range.
But it was his tackling, passing, vision and box-to-box running that lit up this contest, keeper Jack Turner playing his part too by making his usual quota of brilliant stops while keeping a clean sheet, one of which he felt was his best of the season so far.
The win took Staines to 16th place in the table, which they won't better regardless of whether or not they win against Canvey Island in their final match.
Nevertheless, boss
Johnson Hippolyte has achieved his objective of
keeping the club in the Ryman Premier and he was more than satisfied with this win against a side who have missed out on a play-offs chance after successive defeats.
"To be fair we were really good and Daniel was just outstanding," said Hippolyte.
