Welcome
Welcome to the 2016 spring edition of The WasteLine, a publication of the Hamilton County Recycling and Solid Waste District. This edition includes articles on:
Program changes included in our 15-year Solid Waste Management Plan
A $555,000 grant available for recycling carts
Learn about the 2015 residential recycling rates
The District’s popular Yard Trimmings Drop-Off program opened March 19. Residents can drop off brush, leaves, and other yard trimmings at three drop-offs throughout the county on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is free of charge.
We will not be holding a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) drop off event in 2016. Instead, we will be conducting a campaign to inform residents of alternative outlets for common HHW items (such as CFL’s and motor oil) and promoting a reduction in HHW.
Beginning April 1, 2016 Colerain and Springfield townships will begin contracting for waste and recycling on behalf of their residents. Their residents are saving money, they are scaling back their recycling drop off program, and hopefully they will see a boost in their recycling rates. I will update you in the future on their successes and challenges.
Thank you for your continued support of recycling in your community and for promoting our programs to your residents. As always, feel free to contact me at 946-7789 with any questions or suggestions to improve our programs.
Sincerely,
Michelle Balz
