  Albion College will be hosting a Free Football Clinic this
 Saturday, April 23rd, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
 f or children ages 4-11 at the Dow Center on the
 Albion College campus.  The clinics are hosted by the
 Student-Athlete  Advisory Committee.

  We ask that if you have Winter decorations on graves at Riverside Cemetery that you come and remove them as it is now time to place Summer decorations.  If you come to the cemetery and find that a decoration is removed you may check with the Cemetery office to see if we picked it up or if the wind or weather may have taken it away.

Department Overview: City Manager:

. The City Manager's office is staffed by just one
person, Sheryl Mitchell. In general, the City Manager's
Office is responsible for city operations on a large scale.

The greatest responsibility of the City Manager
is administrative oversight of the various departments
of the city, including human resources public services,
public safety, and planning.

  The City Manager is also responsible for preparing
 the city budget and getting it approved  by the City
 Council. Sheryl Mitchell works with the City Council in other
ways, such  as making policy recommendations and
implementation  suggestions.

The City Manager's office can be found on the first
 floor of City Hall, next to the Human
Resources office.

Just a reminder that April 30th is the last day to file your
City of Albion income tax returns.
 
 If you lived or worked within the City limits anytime
during 2015 you are required to file a City tax return.

CONGRATULATIONS TO JAYONNA YAHSHA!

 

Eights students from Albion traveled to Clawson, Michigan to participate in a Junior Optimist (JOOI) Convention this past weekend. While there, Jayonna was encouraged to seek a leadership role on the Michigan Board of Directors for JOOI.  She received a unanimous vote from JOOI students who were there from around the State of Michigan. Jayonna Yahsha is a Freshman attending Marshall High School!  Congratulations!!

 
 
If you believe you're a victim of identity theft:
 
Be alert to possible identity theft if you receive a notice from the
IRS or learn from your tax professional that:
 
  • More than one tax return for you was filed;
  • You have a balance due, refund offset or have had collection actions taken against you for a year you did not file a tax return;
  • IRS records indicate you received more wages than you actually earned or your state or federal benefits were reduced or cancelled because the agency received information reporting an income change.
  • If you receive a notice from IRS and you suspect your identity has been used fraudulently, respond immediately by calling the number on the notice.
  • If you did not receive a notice but believe you've been the victim of identity theft, contact the IRS Identity Protection Specialized Unit at 800-908-4490 right away so we can take steps to secure your tax account and match your SSN or ITIN.
  • Also, fill out the IRS Identity Theft Affidavit, Form 14039. Please write legibly and follow the directions on the back of the form that relate to your specific circumstances. In addition, we recommend you take additional steps with agencies outside the IRS:
  • File a report with the local police.

Close any accounts that have been tampered with or opened fraudulently.

Road Closing Advisory:
 
Superior St. and Erie St. at the railroad crossing will be closed between April 25th and May 7th for repairs.
 
Superior St. between Michigan Ave. and Cass St. and Erie St. between Hannah St. and Darrow St. will be closed between April 25, 1016 and May 7, 2016 for repairs to the railroad crossing. 
 
 No vehicle traffic or pedestrian traffic will be allowed to cross the railroad tracks at this locations.  Please plan alternate routes during the construction. See suggested routes below:
