Pleasantdale School District Friday Update
April 22, 2016
A Note from the Superintendent
Greetings, Parents,

As we begin to wrap up the school year, we have our eyes set on 2016-17.  Part of our end-of-year work is to ensure that all families have completed the registration process.  As we did last summer, we ask that all families login to Skyward Family Access to complete and/or review their child's registration.  We have found that our families' information often changes; therefore, reviewing your child's information is a critical step.  In addition to verifying your family information, you will be able to acknowledge receipt of the weapons policy, acceptable use computer policy, and parent/student handbook.  Also, you will be able to purchase materials and yearbooks as well as pay technology fees (4th and 5th grade).

Online registration will open the first week of May and is available online 24/7.  The due date to complete the registration is July 1. It is important that we have all families complete the registration as soon as possible. Please contact the school office if you need your family's login or password information or if you have questions.

Thank you for your help with this important process.

Have a great weekend,

Dave Palzet

Welcome Spring!

As the school year winds down, excitement at school revs up. The culmination of classroom projects, field trips, learning celebrations, spring sports, school concerts and numerous other activities make these days pass quickly. One goal of the staff is to keep students engaged and challenged right up to the final day of school. We appreciate all support toward this goal.
Mrs. Halusek's Mini-Science Fair

The second graders enjoyed applying the scientific method at our mini-science fair. They did a great job explaining their projects to their friends and families!

A special thanks to...

Dr. Tony Smith, State Superintendent of Education, for visiting Pleasantdale on Monday, April 11th. He was impressed by our students, teachers and our school.

Honoring Our Best "Bud" Mr. Jim!

At an All-School Assembly today, Mr. Jim was honored by the students and staff and with the retirement of the Jersey of the #1 Fan of Pleasantdale students. Mr. Jim was celebrated for his un-ending dedication and devotion to our students. A special #1 Jersey was presented to him, and a duplicate Jersey will hang in the athletic hallway in his honor.
Mr. Jim recently retired from his daily custodial duties. Thankfully, he has continued to serve our district, assisting daily in the lunchroom. We are so thankful to Mr. Jim for his years of service and the love and care he provides for each and every student.
Thank You Gardening Club Members!

Now that Spring is finally here, flower buds planted by our Gardening Club are blooming all over campus! The bulbs were a donation from our local Lowes and the hard work was by our students, led by Gardening Club sponsor Ms. Castaldo.

Career Day

Our students have so many possible career choices they can explore! On April 25, they will have a chance to learn about many different fields at our Career Day! Co-sponsored by Jaycees, 28 volunteers will be presenting to our students about their career fields.
