Middah-of the-Month: Shtika (Silence) & Shmirat HaLashon (Thoughtful Speech)
|
Silence and You
Silence means not speaking. In contemplative silence, even the inner dialogue is stilled.
The two are not related, each comprising its own virtue.
The tongue is the pen of the heart, and the ability to be silent demonstrates great self-mastery (taming of the ego).
To be inwardly still is to abide in a suspended state of receptive reverence. It is prayer without words, a prayer prayed by the act of presence. - Alan Morinis, Tikkun Middot Project Curriculum

Photo of the Week |
T
his photo was taken during last weekend's Congregational Dinner at the home of Nik
ki Fedoravicius and Benjamin Kozower. CBI members Sara Rim-Kaufman, Sharon Hostler, Peppy Linden, Vikki Bravo, Gerry Berg, Brad and Sonnia Kesser (not shown) and Julie Cohen (not shown) participated in this lovely meal!
A special toda (thank you) goes out to Benjamin Kozower and Shelley Lieberman who set up the Congregational Dinner. Reports in from far and wide give them kudos for making it all possible.
There are a lot of CBI members with smiles on their faces thanks to that relaxing and tasty evening. It was a great way to say good-bye to Winter and hello to Spring. And a nice passage toward Passover.
