BDC Supports the Educational Technology Millage
Monroe County will hold a special election on May 3 to vote on the renewal of a countywide technology enhancement millage for public schools. The BDC Board passed a resolution weeks ago endorsing the renewal of slightly less than 1 mill for five years.
Funds from the levy are used primarily to purchase new technology and computer hardware and software, collaborative learning tools and professional development for educators in K-12. Since its first approval in 1997, the millage has given students new and exciting opportunities.
Dr. Donald Spencer, chairman of Citizens for Educational Technology, said “The Monroe County Technology Enhancement Millage has placed Monroe County School Districts in the forefront of Michigan in providing students with the tools they need to succeed in the future. Teachers and students are using the technology to expand learning beyond the walls of the classroom and to ensure that businesses have a skilled workforce available to them. The renewal of the technology millage is vital to the future prosperity of Monroe County.”

The BDC has recently implemented a Business Survey for Monroe County. The purpose of this survey is to gather data on local business needs so that we may design relevant services based on the responses and gauge the general business climate of the county.
We would like to ask for your participation, if you have not already done so.
The survey questions are general in nature about your company, operations and workforce needs. The survey can be accessed via the button below, will take less than 10 minutes to complete, and should be completed in one setting since the incomplete survey cannot be accessed again at a later time.
Please help us help you! Your responses will be held in confidence and used only for the purposes stated above. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our office.
