Deer and forest regeneration webinar:  Join us online December 15
Deer can reduce the abundance and composition of trees and herbs through browsing and can alter the habitat availability for a variety of organisms. This webinar will highlight recent research on deer density and its impacts on tree seedling abundance across the northeastern US, with management implications for Lake States forests.

Save the Date! Gathering Partners conference
Mark your calendars and plan to join us in Winona, Minnesota for next year's Gathering Partners of Natural Resources conference! From May 20-22, 2016, people from all over the state will convene at Saint Mary's University to discuss this year's theme: Nurturing a Healthy Big Woods, Big Rivers Biome. Registration will open in March, and in the meantime you can find more information on the conference website.

The USDA Forest Service-Northeastern Area State and Private Forestry recently compiled a handy document that documents recent changes to forest tax law.

Recent findings of EAB have residents and forest managers concerned about the potential impacts of this invasive insect in their communities. Meet a forest landowner: Jim and Linda Mielke 
Like so many members of the Minnesota Forestry Association, the passion for trees and working with wood started long before Jim and Linda bought their own land. For Jim, it started in his dad's workshop.  Read about Jim and Linda Mielke and their relationship with their woods here.

Amid concerns about the future logging industry, Extension forest resources specialists Charlie Blinn and Matt Russell recently assessed how healthy the logging sector is across Minnesota.
