from Fr. Rich:
In his Lenten message, Pope Francis invites all Catholics to practice acts of charity to resist what he has called a "globalization of indifference." He also encourages all parishes to become "islands of mercy" for brothers and sisters in need.

As we begin this Lenten season each of us is invited to use these 40 days as an opportunity for "Growing Closer to Jesus." We do this by following the ancient practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving.

There are lots of opportunities for prayer, fasting and almsgiving here at St. Josaphat. Please look for a mailing early next week with more information. If you do not receive this mailing, please contact the office ([email protected]) to make sure we have your current address.

Please plan on joining us for one of our Ash Wednesday services to start your Lent and receive ashes. We have masses at 8:15 am (School Mass), 12:00 Noon, and 6:30 pm. There is also a prayer service at 4:00 pm.

from the PARISH TRANSFORMATION PROJECT:
Our parish Lenten project (ending on April 30) is the "Parish Transformation Project." We are celebrating the gifts of our parish, and aim to make it even stronger in fulfilling the mission that Jesus entrusted to his Church.

We are meeting every Thursday from 7 - 9 pm in the rectory to identify the strengths that give St. Josaphat its distinctive character, as well as determine those areas in parish life and ministry that are ripe for new development.

We are eager to grow our committee to ensure the voices of all parishioners are represented. We welcome new and single parishioners, parishioners with young or older children, as well as older parishioners. If you have been on the sidelines waiting for the right opportunity, this may be your calling.

Please RSVP to Fr. Rich ([email protected]) or just show up next Thursday. We'd be happy to have you!

Can you spare an hour on Saturday?
We could use about 10 people this Saturday to help assemble our Lent letter! If you'd like to help click here!
