CFEC New Header Logo

If it's Monday it's the beginning of another week where we are fighting PLAs from one corner of California to the other.

Please take the time to do one or all of the following:
  • Contact those considering PLAs and ask them to vote "No!"
  • Attend a meeting in your region and express your opinions about PLAs
  • Support CFEC TODAY to help us keep up the fight against PLAs. Donate online HERE

County PLA Threats

Santa Clara County : On Tuesday, April 12th, the County will be taking two separate PLA votes. The first vote will lower the dollar threshold (from $10 million down to $2 million) that determines which projects automatically fall under the county's generic PLA policy. Apparently too much work is still going to non-union contractors and the county can't have any of that.

The next vote will be to place a PLA on the county's Main Jail North Cell Hardening Project.

Please contact the Board of Supervisors TODAY and express your views on PLAs to them.

Please also consider speaking at the meeting on Tuesday at 10:00am. The meeting will be held at the County Government Center. The address is 70 West Hedding Street, 1st Floor, San Jose 95110.

Monterey County : On Tuesday, April 12th, the Monterey County Board of Supervisors will be taking up a vote on a PLA for the Interlake Tunnel and Spillway Modification Project that their staff took approximately 23 minutes to "negotiate" with local union bosses. You can read the agenda item HERE.

Please contact the Board of Supervisors TODAY and express your views on PLAs to them. They can be reached HERE.

Please also consider speaking at the meeting on Tuesday. The meeting begins at 10:30am and will be held at the Monterey County Government Center. The address is 168 W. Alisal Street, First Floor, Salinas 93901.

Kern County: Also on Tuesday, April 12th, the Kern County Board of Supervisors will take up for consideration the Willow Springs Solar Project that is being targeted for union greenmail by California Unions for Reliable Energy (CURE). To learn more about union attempts to extort owners into "agreeing" to PLAs visit our website www.phonyuniontreehuggers.com

City PLA Threats

City of Concord: Not to be outdone, the City of Concord will also be considering on Tuesday, April 12th, a PLA.  This discussion item would give approval for city staff to begin negotiating a city-wide PLA.

Please contact the City Council TODAY to let them know your views on PLAs. They can be reached HERE.

Please also consider joining us at the meeting at 6:30pm to speak to the council in person. The meeting will be held at the Concord Civic Center. The address is 1950 Parkside Drive, Concord 94519.

School Districts

Central Unified School District: At its Tuesday, April 12th (busy day!) meeting, the CUSD school board will take up exclusionary apprenticeship language. While not technically a PLA this language would have the same effect of reducing bidders on taxpayer funded projects due to its discriminatory intent. Go HERE and see item G.1 for yourself. Please contact Associated Builders and Contractors NorCal Government Affairs Director Nicole Goehring at [email protected] for more information or to get involved.

The meeting will be held at 7pm on Tuesday, April 12th at Central High School-East Campus Wayne "Hondo" Hodge Performing Arts Center. The address is 3635 North Cornelia Ave, Fresno.
