Squannacook River Rail Trail Buy A Brick Campaign
Squannacook River Rail Trail Buy A Brick Campaign

With our 2016 brick fundraiser, you can help turn the Squannacook River Rail Trail from a long-held dream into a reality! After more than ten years of hard work, Squannacook Greenways has signed the MBTA lease and won the right to construct this new stone dust rail trail in the towns of Townsend and Groton. Now we need your help to take this giant step toward making our communities more bicycle and pedestrian friendly. Our total construction budget of $150,000 includes no town or state money - grants and fundraising alone are being used to build this trail.  The total length of the trail will be 3.7 miles.

How does my brick purchase help?
For each brick you purchase at $150, the profit to Squannacook Greenways of $132 will pay for 17 feet of rail trail construction.  These bricks will be placed at the base of the informational kiosks to be placed in the parking areas in Groton and Townsend, similar to the artist's conception picture below.  Our fundraising thermometer at http://www.sqgw.org/donate.html will be updated every day, so check back to see your donation's effect.  In addition, for your donation, you will receive a one year membership in Squannacook Greenways, starting on the day the trail opens.
How to order
Go to  http://www.fundraisingbrick.com/squannacook  or click the Buy a brick! buttons on this page to order your brick on-line, and enter your own inscription. You can also choose in which town your brick will be placed - Groton or Townsend. The total cost of the brick is tax-deductible, since Squannacook Greenways is a 501c3.   Any questions? Feel free to email rideout@sqgw.org or ask any board member at our  Earth Day clean up  on April 23, 2016.

With this brick fund raiser, you can help us meet our planned construction date of Spring 2017.  But far more than that, you can help leave a legacy that generations of people who grow up and live in our two towns will thank you for - the Squannacook River Rail Trail!
