It is a great pleasure to announce that the Search Committee, after much thought, work, and prayer, has voted unanimously and joyfully to formally recommend a new senior minister to lead our church.  This letter serves as the first step in introducing you to the Rev. Dr. Brett Younger.

Dr. Younger, 55, is married to Carol Younger, also a seminary graduate, who is a writer of church curricula and the editor of a daily devotional guide. The Youngers have two sons: Graham, a lawyer, works for a faith-based foundation in Atlanta; and Caleb, who is finishing his senior year at Georgetown University, plans to go to law school. 

The committee has had multiple in-depth conversations with Dr. Younger, has listened to many of his sermons, and has read his columns, blog and books. Our face-to-face interview process included formal interviews and multiple informal conversations, as well as the opportunity to hear him preach in person.

We strongly feel Dr. Younger is a good spiritual and cultural fit with Plymouth. We believe he has the strength and skills to take the church to its next level of growth and depth, and we wholeheartedly recommend him.

The Search Committee joyfully invites all members of the congregation to meet the candidate for our next senior minister and his wife at the following events:

 

Friday, April 15

10:45 - 11:45 am Coffee and Conversation -  Storrs Library

Drop in to briefly meet the candidate and his wife over a cup of coffee.

 

6:30 pm Vespers Service  - The Sanctuary

 

7:15 - 9 pm Cocktails and Conversation - Reception Room

A relaxed reception with drinks and hors d'oeuvres.  Childcare provided for Vespers and the Reception.

 

Saturday, April 16

10:30 - 11:30 am Coffee and Conversation - Reception Room

 

12 noon Family Fun

Sunday School children and their families are invited to enjoy the playground and one another (Inside if it rains).  Wonderful opportunity to meet the candidate for Senior Minister.  While this is designed for families, all are always welcome.  A simple lunch will be provided.

 

Sunday, April 17

11:00 am Worship Service, with our candidate preaching

Vote on the candidate to follow directly after the service in the Sanctuary.
