The Mass, Scale, and Character Ad hoc Committee will study the application of requirements for new development in the Coastal Zone to be compatible with existing neighborhoods in mass, scale, and character as mandated by the VCZSP and related planning documents.
We meet at the Vera Davis Center on California Blvd at Electric Ave every Monday. See you in the New Year.

The Budget and Finance Committee oversees and administers all VNC financial matters, including the system of financial accountability as required by the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment and the City of Los Angeles.

Venice Neighborhood Council Election

HARK! The Venice Neighborhood Council's 2016 election will be
5 June 2016.
If you
are not perfectly satisfied with what YOUR neighborhood council has accomplished in the last 2 years, become a Board member and improve it.
If you
are perfectly satisfied, still run for the Board. Not all current Board members intend to run again. Candidate registration begins
21 Feb 2016.
It's time to examine the
duties and responsibilities of our 21 Board offices and begin evaluating which office to run for.

The Great Venice Toy Drive - Thank You!

Venice
, Calif., December 23, 2015 - The Great Venice Toy Drive Holiday Festival was held on December 19, 2015.
After collecting toys for over a month at local businesses throughout Venice, The Great Venice Toy Drive, a project of the Venice Neighborhood Council (VNC), Vera Davis McClendon Youth and Family Center (Vera Davis), and the City of Los Angeles, ended in its annual holiday festival on December 19, 2015 at Oakwood Recreation Center where toys were distributed to over 580 children.
At the festival, kids were able to engage in arts & crafts, have their face painted, receive a free photo with Santa, obtain their caricature, or play in a moon bounce or in the snow.

Created in preparation for the upcoming El Nino season ahead, the Neighborhood Council Emergency Preparedness Alliance has provided the following valuable information for Venice stakeholders and promises increased communication across NCs for important public safety issues going forward.
Flooding is the most severe weather threat and the costliest nature disaster facing Venice and the nation. Know your risk - there are a number of things you can do before, during and after a flood to reduce your risk.

The Baseline Mansionization Ordinance Request for Comments has been published. This ordinance and its sister ordinance, the Hillside Mansionization Ordinance, apply to residential development in all Los Angeles neighborhoods that do
not have Specific Plans.
If you live east of Lincoln, this means you!
On Wednesday, Dec. 2 and Thursday Dec. 3, the Los Angeles Planning Department displayed a presentation describing amendments that are intended to address flaws in the ordinance.
