April is Poetry Month, so come and celebrate the joys of Poetry with Darren Sardelli and his Laugh-a-Lot Poetry program for kids! He will talk about being inspired to start writing, where he gets his ideas and how he first got published.  Darren will also act out his humorous and whimsical poems for the crowd. It will be both exciting and interactive. Don't miss it! Supported by the Coyle Family Fund for Young Readers. Grades K and up. Registration required.

Terrific Tales for Twos and Threes 10:15 - 10:45 am: Ages 2 and 3 with a caregiver.  Stories, songs, finger plays and more.

Wednesdays, April 6 - June 8
Books for Babies 10:15 - 10:45 am: Gentle songs, stories, and toy time for babies under 12 months with their caregiver.

Wonderful Ones and Twos 11 - 11:30 am: Ages 1 and 2 with caregivers.  Music, movement, and stories.

Movement and Dance for Little Ones 11 - 11:30 am
Ages 0 - 5 with caregiver. Children are invited to join a fun time of moving, grooving, jumping, shaking, singing and playing instruments.

Beverly Atlee Bunn was born on April 12, 1916 in Oregon. To celebrate her 100th birthday, answer these 10 questions about her books and life. All the answers can be found around the Children's Library on pictures of her book covers.  Pick up the questions at the Children's Reference Desk.



Beardsley Zoo
Tuesday, April 12
Beardsley Zoomobile 2:30 - 3:30 pm
Grades K and up.  The zoo will be presenting Amazing Adaptations which shows us how different creatures adapt to their surroundings. Live animals and a lot of science fun to be had! Supported by the Amadeo Family.  Registration required for each child.


Building Blocks
Tuesdays, April 5 - June 7
Let's Make Something 4 - 5 pm
Grades 1 - 5 with a caregiver in the building. Using the concept of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) a member of the Children's Library staff will facilitate a different activity every Tuesday from 4:00-5:00 p.m. to allow children to explore, create, innovate, design, imagine and just have a lot of fun! At 3:45 on the day of the program, tickets for that afternoon's program will be handed out on a first-come-first-serve basis at the Children's Reference Desk. Space is limited.  Supported by the Amadeo Family.


Ambler Barn
Wednesday, April 13
Ambler Farm Reads 2:15 - 3 pm
Ages 3 - 6. 
Caregivers and children will meet at Ambler Farm to enjoy theme based stories as well as a nature walk.  Children may check books out at the farm, so make sure to bring your library card!  During the month of April the focus will be sheep.  Registration required.

Minecraft
Saturdays, April
Minecraft Club 10 am - 12 noon
Ages 8 and up.  For the Minecraft program, with children under 12, caretakers must remain in the building and must sign in their child.  Minecraft enthusiasts are welcome to join the Minecraft Computer Club on Saturday mornings between 10-12 noon to discuss and play everything Minecraft at Wilton Library.  Please note: Minecraft is a subscription-based, online game. Players must bring their own laptop and create their own account. Hand held devices run on a separate Minecraft app and therefore will not be able to play on the same servers as children with laptops. Register here for ALL April sessions.

Come to the Wilton Library and vote for your favorite Nutmeg Award Book! Kids can stop by the library and fill out a ballot for their favorite 2016 Elementary (grades 2 - 4) or Intermediate (grades 4 - 6) Nutmeg book. One vote per person please.
