Can You Open Your Heart and Home to Handsome Max?

When Max's owner entered hospice care and eventually passed away, the handsome dog thankfully found his way to Second Home Pet Resort. Through our resort and contacts, we were able to bring Max to

The handsome 10-year-old Chow Chow is very gentle. He was evaluated while he was in boarding at Second Home Pet Resort, and got to spend lots of time socializing with people and other dogs. He enjoyed every minute of his time at the resort.

While at the vet for his checkup, it was found that Max had heartworm disease. He was immediately put on a heartworm treatment plan and has since recovered. He came through with flying colors.

With a clean bill of health and now on a monthly heart worm prevention plan, which is recommended for all adopters through Forever Loved Pet Sanctuary, Max is now ready for his forever home.

So what's great about Max? This gentle soul is sweet and loves to go for walks, so he'll be great for anyone who wants to do the same and get in some exercise. He also enjoys a tasty bully stick. Max also seems to have had some basic training.

If you have room in your heart and home for Max, please contact Forever Loved Pet Sanctuary's website or Facebook page.

Have a Heart And Ensure Your Pets Are Safe From Heartworm Disease
Heartworm is not something to be taken lightly, which is probably why there's a special month to recognize what can be a very deadly disease if not caught early enough and treated.

And April is that month. During National Heartworm Awareness Month, there is no better time to get educated about the disease and steps you can take to prevent it.

Celebrate National Adopt A Shelter Pet Day And Adopt A Furry Family Member

Every day thousands of dogs and cats in local shelters across the nation are looking for homes.

Due to that sad fact, Natioanl Adopt a Shelter Pet Day was established every April 30 to bring awareness to those animals. It's a way to try to get people to go out to their local shelter and adopt a dog, cat, puppy, kitten or even a bunny.

The "unofficial" holiday is hopefully catching on as an important day not only to bring the homeless pet problem to the forefront but to also attract more  people to shelters to adopt pets.

Employee Spotlight:
Tammi Hall, guest service attendant
As a guest services attendant at Second Home Pet Resort, Tammi Hall takes care of dogs and cats to make sure they have everything they need. From food and water to bedding, she makes them comfortable.

"I make their stay as pleasant as possible," she said. She also takes the dogs out to the yard for potty breaks or to the water park for playtime.

Tammi is a self-described "dog person." In her eyes they can do no wrong. "They are just adorable," she said. However, her current pets are two cute cats.

She has been with Second Home almost three years, and has been working in the pet care services industry for a total of 12 years.

Her favorite part of the jobs is "making the dogs comfortable and putting them at ease so they are not nervous or scared.

"I enjoy doing cuddle times with them because it can change their whole view of the place," she said. She will do whatever it takes to put them at ease about being at the resort, especially if it's a first-time visit.

If there is one thing she wants people to know it is that pets are happy to come for a stay at Second Home. "It's a nice feeling when a dog comes back and is happy to see you and remembers you," she said.
