Canada's 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017 is a chance to encourage all Canadians to contribute to their communities in a way that will foster a greater sense of belonging, support meaningful reconciliation and leave a lasting legacy now and for future generations.

Edmonton charities can apply for grants of up to $15,000 to support locally-led projects that build community, inspire a deeper understanding of Canada, and encourage participation in a wide range of initiatives that mark Canada's 150th anniversary of Confederation. Applications are due April 29, 2016.

A mobility-impaired tour program provides improved access to the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village. Pre-booked groups are allowed to bring their own bus/van and drive through the historic areas. Participants remain on board while a costumed guide brings the museum experience to them. Groups have the choice of morning or afternoon tours with lunch. The Seniors Outreach Worker will focus on strengthening the well-being and improving the quality of life for Strathcona County seniors. Key responsibilities include:

• Conducts home visits with seniors and their families who have complex issues (social isolation, grief/loss, mental health, transportation, advocacy, housing, health and addictions)
• Conducts needs assessments, develops case plans and provides information, advocacy and supportive referrals; develops trusting relationships
• Facilitates and monitors the client's progress towards attaining goals and make adjustments to case plans as necessary

Key qualifications include a post-secondary degree in the Human Services field and a minimum of three years' experience working with seniors and their families and an understanding of gerontology and the aging process.

University of Alberta researchers conducting a study called The Use of Collage Techniques as a Means of Eliciting Story about Home Care and Caregiving: The Family Caregiver's Perspective invite you to participate. 

This study will explore what it means to receive home care services and be a primary caregiver for a family member. The study information will be used to increase understanding about home care and inform home care and caregiving policy. Caregivers are invited to participate in an arts-based workshop (April 19 or 20 from 1-4:30 p.m.), create a collage, and take part in an interview.
