WIGC Forum II - "Grow Your Business, Grow Yourself"
At GovConnect's Women in Government Contracting Forum II,  keynote speaker, Marta Wilson, inspirational speaker and founder/CEO of Transformation Systems Inc., spoke to an audience of nearly 100 people on April 1. She delved into the characteristics and ideologies of those people and companies that excel, and those that motivate others to excel. She reminded attendees that when we have the will, i.e. the intention, we will discover the way to make something happen. Through personal, interpersonal, organizational and motivational mastery, peop le  can advance to the leading edge and drive success for themselves and for others.
 
Afternoon breakout sessions focused on the challenges of leadership, delegation, leveraging business certifications for federal contracts, and essential elements for success.

Ambassador Spotlight


Flora Betro
Flora Betro, Sales Advisor and Strategist for Target Marketing Group, has been an Ambassador for the Chamber since July 2012.  As an Ambassador, Flora is one of the Chamber's front-line volunteers promoting good relations between the Chamber, current and potential Chamber members, and the community at large. Flora has been instrumental in the promotion of the Chamber and its members and constantly sets a positive stage for new membership growth and members retention. Ellicott City is home for Flora and her husband. Together, in their perfectly blended family, they have 4 children and 9 grandchildren. Her other community roles include past Board participation for BWN and Volunteer Coordinator for The Little Things for Cancer.

Leadership Howard County presents The Big Event with keynote speaker Captain Richard Phillips, who became the center of a riveting international drama in 2009 when his cargo ship was hijacked by Somali pirates, and he was held captive for five days at sea. His story was the basis for the Academy Award-nominated movie "Captain Phillips."
