Looking forward to the Class of 2020
|
Accepted students from the Class of 2020 attended the Accepted Students Dinner on Jan. 22. More than 500 parents and prospective students shared in a pasta dinner. They were greeted by Ashley DeLeon '19. "You have made a great decision considering our school!," she began. Read the full speech here.
Prospective parents thanks SCA on Facebook for "a great event" declaring that the food was "yum."

Iona College Associate Professor Elena G. Procario-Foley, Ph.D. visits students
Dr. Elena G. Procario-Foley, associate professor
of religious studies, visited with St. Catharine Academy students in the communication arts class. The Brother John G. Driscoll Professor of Jewish-Catholic Studies professor shared her knowledge of Jewish-Catholic relations with the students who were filled with questions.

he National Hispanic Recognition Program
recognizes about 5,000 of the 250,000 Hispanic/Latino juniors who take the test as juniors.
Bianca is taking physics, theology, AP English Language and Composition, AP Government and Politics, AP Calculus, and child psychology (first semester). In the second semester, she will be taking fashion design and psychology.
Bianca has been accepted to her top two college choices--SUNY Stony Brook and
Penn State University Park, which awarded her the Provost Scholarship. She
plans to study either neuroscience or psychology, perhaps double majoring.
Bianca says, "This honor has helped to distinguish me as an academically excellent Hispanic scholar during the college application process. It has also motivated me to continue doing well in school to maintain the expectations of the program, my family, and myself.
"
Carmela Melucci-Ivanov, assistant principal of academics, says, "Bianca truly embodies the attributes of a NHS student. She is a leader, scholar and young woman who is always willing to be of service."

StArt 2016 Art Competition

Three SCA students were among the high school students who had their art work exhibited at the StArt 2016 Regional High School Art Exhibition at Concordia College in Bronxville, New York. Twenty-nine private and public high schools from the Bronx, Westchester, Fairfield and Rockland counties participated in the juried competition.

Alumnae Basketball Game is a slam dunk
Alumnae returned to play basketball on Jan. 16. They were joined by the recently retired Coach Sandie Capifali.

Wishing the JV and Varsity good luck as they prepare for Nationals.
They will participate in the UCA Nationals Competition at Disney in Orlando, FL, February 6 and 7.
