Nabi recently returned from a trip to Saudi Arabia. He was met in Dubai by a good friend living in Kabul who brought with him letters from all but two of  fifty three children sponsored through TIE.  Sponsors, once the letters have been translated they will be sent to you.  The other two will be sent by email.

His friend returned to Kabul with 90 flash drives loaded with over 450 Khan Academy math videos and more YouTube videos, you and others sent to us.

Note:  math problem is on the screen. Wahid monitors this library.
The flash drives will replace the drives currently in place in our computer libraries. Basir reported last month that the children were ready for more videos. They now have at least 350 more math videos and additional YouTube videos. There are six hundred more math videos to go. We're half way there.

A friend from Montana sent me a video bearing on the issue of immigration and poverty. Watch it and please share with others. Gumballs make the case for our support of families in Afghanistan  ( click here to watch).

I also thought you would enjoy a few of the YouTube videos that the children in Afghanistan are now able to watch.  Below are links to several. Keep sending them in. Math can become boring.

Shanghai World Expo  (at least watch until you see the violin players)
Mountain Biking
Underwater in Tonga and Figi
Japanese children sing
Flashmob kids
People Are Awesome
Baby and Me
5 year old pianist
Russian Flashmob
Where is Matt?
Osprey
This kid can dance
Monkey sees magic trick

We are able to delete the video ads while downloading. Sorry, we can't do the same for you.

There is more good news to share. The February utilization report for the  computer libraries we've established is in. The average combined daily utilization for the six libraries is 500 children per day!!!  It turns out more girls are using the libraries than boys. It's not surprising given how motivated and passionate Afghan girls are about having an opportunity to learn.

Trust in Education is on the forefront of E-learning in Afghanistan thanks to the dedicated and tireless efforts of Gerard Van Steyn.  He was able to take us down this road which at present is the road less traveled. That will change over time.

Enjoy the weekend. Just don't watch, read or listen to the news. Works for me.
