She is an active exhibitor throughout California. Hailing from near the picturesque town of Jackson, CA., Ms. Vodden's preference for the complex play of form and light is balanced by her use of a very simple palette. The visual effects are revealed in an unusual feeling of depth of color resulting in stunning and unique works of art. Her work has been published in both Pratique des Art Magazine in France and Artist Palette Magazine in Australia. To see more of her work go to www.jeannievodden.com.

Coming up in
MAY....

Our Guest Speaker for the MAY General Membership Meeting/Presentation on Monday MAY 23 at 7:00 will be:

SUSAN GREAVES

This Louisana-bred, West-coast-trained, and Redding-nurtured artist used her university degree in applied art as a basis for subsequent study with outstanding master artists. She was a scholarship student of the acclaimed Russian artists Sergei Bongart, of Los Angeles.

Greaves' widely collected oil paintings have been shown in galleries and competitions nationwide.  Professional recognition has come from Knickerbocker Artists, Alla Prima International, the Society of Master Impressionists, and Oil Painters of America and other groups. Over 50 awards have come her way.

Artist's Statement

"Let me introduce myself. I am Susan Ferguson Greaves and I have been an emerging artist since I was chosen by American Artist Magazine in 1986 as one of four "emerging" artists from over 1200 considered. Little did I know then that "emerging" is a constant process for working artists. Hence, I've been emerging for all these years since.

In the ensuing years, I have attempted to share the fulfillment I've enjoyed through painting. If my work creates a response from you, like "I love those colors" or "That sunset is so peaceful" or
"My favorite uncle's farm and it looked like that", I will have succeeded in communicating something that stirred me about my subject. After all, communication is the ultimate purpose of art and I am especially grateful for my collectors through whom this cycle of expression and communication was completed in a way that reaches beyond the ordinary."
