Our partner, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), shared with us some updated information regarding the ongoing work at the I-71/Socialville-Fosters Road bridge.
Crews will be doing sporadic pile driving work - which as you might imagine can be a noisy and jarring activity. ODOT expects that this work will be intermittent over the next couple of months. There will be two or three days of activity and then two or three days of no activity and so on. This work can be disrupting, but is unfortunately an important necessity to provide foundational support for the new bridge. They anticipate most of the pile driving will be conducted during the day, however on occasion it might be required to be performed at night.

The New Turn Lane on Irwin-Simpson Road
is Now Open
The new dedicated right turn lane at Irwin-Simpson Road for traffic turning south onto Columbia Road is now open!
Over the next several weeks, crews will begin resurfacing Irwin-Simpson Road between Columbia and Duke Drive. This work will take place on Saturdays in order to minimize any disruption to local traffic.

Irwin-Simpson Road Phase II Now Underway
You may have noticed other work happening on Irwin-Simpson Road between Charleston Park and Butler-Warren Road in the last few weeks. Contractors have been working on the Irwin-Simpson Phase II widening project, which will increase safety and mobility with the widening of Irwin-Simpson Road in that area, as well as the addition of a new sidewalk to the north side of the road.
This area of Irwin Simpson Road (between Charleston Park and Butler-Warren Road) is currently closed to through traffic, although local traffic and residents will have access to this area. The closure is scheduled through November of this year.
