April Newsletter
Spring is finally here!
"Man...all this typing hurts my eyes!"
Center Director Report

Do not wait until Summer to come out sailing. That is an order. These are great days...good wind, not too warm, no powerboat traffic.

PASS PRICES: The Board recently voted to a modest increase in pricing for our passes (see Larry's section for details). I doubt anyone will even notice; this place is a deal at 2 or 3 times the price!

ATTENTION ADULT LEARN-TO-SAIL INSTRUCTORS: Getting volunteers to sign up to instruct has proven to be a most difficult task...and I really understand why. First, I want to thank everyone who has ever taught a lesson. Bravo to you. But there are not enough of you, and frankly I understand people have stuff to do on weekends...and sometimes it is too difficult to commit to 3 1/2 hours on a weekend day or 7 hours for both days.

So I've decided to make a pretty big change: Starting right now, we will be offering any qualified instructor a $50 credit per day to instruct. If you have been approved by me to instruct, you can now earn credits toward your next pass purchase.

Let's see who reads this offer and signs up to instruct this weekend. Note: You must approved to instruct by me. If you desire to become an instructor or aren't sure if you're qualified, email or call me. If you're new to LNCS, you may become our next best instructor.

As always, thanks in advance for all that you do. I hope this incentive motivates a few people to jump in.

A Word from the Board President

Spring is here with longer days and pleasant breezes. Do not wait for hot summer weekends to go sailing. Find time now, after work or in the morning. You will not be disappointed.

LNCS is doing well thanks to a tremendous staff, dedicated board and willing volunteers. Keep it up. If you have not noticed our fleet of Flying Scots received a facelift over the  winter. They are in the best shape ever so please help us keep them that way. Treat them as your own. The new boat house and the skills of one Shawn McWhorter are the two ingredients that came together to make this happen.

We are now offering a Wine & Cheese Sunset Sail for 4 on our new Colgate 26. For $200 a three hour sunset sailing class can be scheduled by calling the office or registering online. This new offering is available to Pass Holders and non-Pass Holders alike. Please tell your sailing and
non-sailing friends. They will handle a few lines, man the tiller for a bit and generally have a wonderful time while learning a bit about sailing.

The board voted to increase the cost of our annual and three month passes by 10% beginning July 1st. This is the second increase in 8 years. And with luck and good growth there may not be another for 4-5 more years. To avoid the increase please renew your pass before July 1st. Even if your pass does not expire until December, you can purchase your upcoming pass at the current price. Finally our goal for 2016 is to have 225 Pass Holders. We ended 2015 with about 190. Please help us meet this goal by introducing someone you know to LNCS.

Christy's Report

YAY! It is spring! Sean and I are feeling a bit neglected so it is time for you to visit. In case you didn't know already...
Here is how you can get involved and have some fun:

  • Enjoy a Three Hour Wine & Cheese Sunset Sail for 4 people on a Colgate 26:  Saturday, April 23rd from 5:00-8:00pm or a time of your choosing. Cost $200 includes skipper, wine, hors d'oeuvres, jib handling and some time at the helm. This is a mini-class. Call me or  go online here to purchase. Available for Pass Holders and non-Pass Holders.
  • Adults, come to Racing Social Sails: Every Wednesday from 4:30-7:30pm and every Saturday (time varies). You will meet great people and learn a lot. No experience necessary!
  • Have an SUP race with your kids:  We have 12 stand up paddleboards and you have a Family Pass. Get those kids out here and challenge them to a race. Sorry, no trophies.
  • Come to a Sunday Social Sail-Cruising Format:  That's right, in May we will begin having a few family friendly Social Sails. Bring the people in your house you like to hang out with and enjoy some time on the water with other pass holders. Look for an email from Mariann Cerimele to sign up on SignUpGenius.
  • Call another Pass Holder to sail with you:  Did you know we have a list of other Pass Holders who want to go sailing with you? Click here to put your name on the list or better yet, call someone listed. Make a friend!
  • Have a double date on tandem kayaks: Yes, we now have two tandem kayaks, perfect for an evening out on the lake. Just be home by sunset.
  • Enroll in a Summer Camp: We have five weeks of full day and/or half-day summer camps for kids age 8-18 beginning June 27th. Click here to enroll your child and we promise they will sleep good at night!

Boater Safety Courses
You can never be too safe on the lake. If you need to brush up on your safety and navigation skills, check out these two options:

That's all for now. Don't forget, Sean and I can see who reads the newsletter and who doesn't so don't let us down!

Hope to see you soon!
