Fifth Annual Worldfest Celebrates People, Cultures and the Earth
Worldfest is a campus-wide celebration of world cultures, diversity and the Earth. This year's Worldfest is on Thursday, April 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the quad. Events include global village booths, a world stage and a chalk art contest along with a world food court provided by Sodexo. Read more about this event on

Dr. Jo Wen Wu Named Fullerton College Teacher of the Year
Biology Professor Dr. Jo Wen Wu has been named the 2016 Fullerton College Teacher of the Year. News of the award was shared with Wu during a surprise visit to her classroom on April 6 after she received several nominations from former students praising her contributions to their academic success. This is Wu's second Teacher of Year award; she was also recipient in 2013.

A Celebration of Life for Amanda Walzer
The Fullerton College community is invited to gather on Sunday, May 1 at 1 p.m. to honor English Professor Amanda Walzer, whose life was tragically cut short in a traffic accident. The Celebration of Life will take place in the Campus Theatre and will be followed by a reception hosted by the Humanities Division. The Celebration of Life is being initiated by students who wish to pay tribute to the impact that Amanda had on their lives, and they would like to extend an invitation to anyone within our campus community who wishes to honor her.
KinderCaminata Welcomed 2,000 Kindergartners
On Friday, April 8, Fullerton College held the 21st Annual KinderCaminata. 2,000 kindergartners came to campus and explored various career options while instilling the importance of a college education.

Coffee with the Trustees and Chancellor
Faculty, staff and student are invited to attend the upcoming Coffees with the NOCCCD Board of Trustees and Chancellor. These are open discussions where the community can ask questions or just listen to conversation. No topic of relevance to the district is off limits - budget, funding, projects, issues in and out of the classroom. Upcoming Coffees will be: April 28 at 10 a.m. at Cypress College, CC Complex, Room 414; May 2, at 3:30 p.m. at Fullerton College in Rooms 224-228, and on May 3 at 3 p.m. at the Anaheim campus in Rooms 105-107.
Puente Program Hosts Successful Fundraiser
On April 1, 2016, the Puente Program held its Annual Harbor Cruise & Dinner Fundraiser in San Pedro. Participants included student, parents and mentors.

President's Open Forum

Fullerton College Awarded $1.5 Million for Basic Skills
Fullerton College's Basic Skills Program has been awarded $1.5 million from the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office to help improve the progression rate of basic skills students from remedial education to college-level instruction.

Artists Wanted for WorldFest!
WorldFest is proud to host FC's Chalk Art Contest again! Artists create sidewalk chart art that embodies any of these three themes: People, Culture, and the Earth. This is a chance to showcase artistic skills and expression and possible win a prize for it! The deadline to apply for the contest is on Tuesday, April 19.

Choral/Vocal Department Holding Auditions
The Choral/Vocal Department is holding auditions for the upcoming fall 2016 semester on Saturday, May 7. Please fill out the

The Fullerton College Symphony will present an evening of music from classical and pop genre. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children and $7 for seniors and students.
High school jazz bands, combos, vocal jazz, gospel choirs, and a cappella compete in the annual Jazz Festival. A two-day event with competitions beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing through 6 p.m. in several venues all over campus.

Baseball
The Hornets lost one on the road on Saturday at the hands of Riverside City College 11-6.
Up Next: Fullerton (22-8, 10-5) will host Irvine Valley College on Tuesday, April 19. The first pitch goes out at 2 p.m.
Softball
The FC softball team hosted Santiago Canyon College on Friday and took one on the chin in a 6-0 loss.
Up Next: The Hornets (21-15, 10-8) will look to bounce back when they play at Orange Coast College on Wednesday, April 13. Game time is at 3 p.m.
Men's Track and Field
A very windy, dry, hot day out at Riverside City College made for some tough conditions in this conference track meet. Justin Walker continued his winning ways, taking the 110m HH in a time of 14.65 seconds, edging out his Riverside opponent by 5/100 of a second. Walker also took second in the Long Jump and teammate Delynn Holland was third. The men's 4 x 100m relay took second. Najee Morrison and James Gilmore both took third place in the 100m and 400m IH, respectively. Josh Spillane took second place in his flight of the Discus, throwing 37.26m.
Up Next: This coming Friday, April 22 is the Orange Empire Conference Preliminaries at Orange Coast College. Events begin at 11 a.m.
Women's Track and Field
The Hornets traveled to Riverside City College for their last dual meet of the season against Riverside City College. The athlete that needed a qualifying mark was Belen Gonzalez in the 5000 meters (12.5 laps), and she did not disappoint running a 21:2307 with ease giving her the opportunity to run at the OEC championships. Kim Flores worked very hard trying her best to qualify in the 800 meters, but she fell short of the qualifying time. The rest of the team competed in their normal events preparing them for what they need to do for this coming week. Team score: FC 14 points - RCC 136 points.
Up Next: The OEC Championship Prelims at Orange Coast College on Friday April 22. field events start at 11 a.m. and track events will begin at 3 p.m.
