Same Heart, Same House, Bigger Impact
I am excited to share with you that Ronald McDonald House of Indiana (RMHI)  and Ronald McDonald House Charites of Central Indiana (RMHCCI) recently merged to become one organization. Although the two organizations worked in collaboration over the years, it was in 2013 when the respective boards of RMHI and RMHCCI began to explore merging into one Ronald McDonald House Charities Chapter. To accomplish this work, a unification taskforce with representatives from both organizations was created to conduct due diligence in the areas of finance, human resources, strategic planning and governance. The result is one stronger, more efficient organization.
As pioneers of family-centered care for 42 years, Ronald McDonald House Charities strives to be part of the solution in improving the lives of children and their families, by providing programs that strengthen families during difficult times. Our goal with this merger is to be "stronger together" as a single organization with one mission, one message and an expanded outreach to support even more children and families through a unified fundraising effort.
Over the next couple of months we will begin to incorporate our new logo (which is at the top of this newsletter), and our new name -- Ronald McDonald House Charites of Central Indiana (RMHCCIN) throughout the organization. Though we are looking forward to this stronger, expanded impact, our mission remains steadfast. We will continue to provide compassionate care, stability and vital resources to families so they can focus on what's most important - the health and well-being of their children.
We thank you for your tremendous partnership as a valued volunteer. You spend many hours of your personal time working to serve families staying at our House, while asking for nothing in return. You see the mothers and fathers who walk through our doors; you know their names and over time, you share in their stories. We hope you know how very much you are appreciated.

Congratulations to IUPUI's Plater Medallion Recipients
Each year, IUPUI recognizes graduating students who have shown exemplary commitment to the community and civic engagement with the William M. Plater Civic Engagement Medallion. This engagement includes activities such as volunteer or pro-bono service at a non-profit agency, participation in service learning courses, voluntary service abroad or involvement with a faculty member on a community-based research project.

Welcome Sonya Robinson
We are excited to have Sonya Robinson join the Ronald McDonald House staff
 as our Development Officer for Special Events and Annual Fund. In addition to managing special events, Sonya will be writing grant and helping building long-term relationships with individual donors.
Previously, Sonya was the senior development officer for the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh, North Carolina. The majority of her 15 years in development has been in the arts area.
Sonya is already enjoying seeing our mission at work by being able to interact with the families we serve. Please join us in welcoming her to our House!

Welcome Three New Guest Services Assistants (GSA)
We recently welcomed three new GSAs to our part-time staff to assist in covering evenings, weekends and vacations at both locations. Former Lori Kleiman Award winner, Bert Harvey, a volunteer for 13 years, will be working at RMH at Riley. Prior to retiring, Bert spent most of her career in customer service-oriented positions with the State of Indiana.
Davielle Richardson is a student working on her BS in Sociology after having earned an Associates degree in Human Services. She has solid experience in customer service, most recently as Guest Services Lead at Simon - Castleton Square.
And last but not least, Megan Thurston joins us as she is working on her Radiation Therapy degree at the IU School of Medicine. She also has a strong service background which she put to work most recently with the Gateway to Graduation and the Themed Learning Communities programs at IUPUI. Davielle and Megan will be working at our Limestone House. All three join current GSA part-time staff: Jane Edson, Rega Kowalski, Laura Lane, Michael Rhinaman, Marlene Tran and Harlan Watson. Assistant Guest Services Managers, Cindy Hutchison and Marco Ray, continue to cover weekdays and assist at other times as needed.

Volgistics and the VIC (Volunteer Information Center)
We are happy to announce that the House is converting to a new volunteer database called Volgistics. Not only will volunteers be able to record their hours electronically, you will now be able to receive important updates when you sign in to record your hours. If Volgistics sounds familiar to those volunteering at the RMH at Riley, this is the same system Riley Hospital has been using for the last year, so you can attest to how user friendly it is. In fact, RMH at Riley volunteers will not notice much of a difference except any messages you get at sign in will be coming from the House rather than Riley Hospital.
Volgisitics has a number of helpful features to both volunteers and staff. We will be rolling out more information in future volunteer newsletters. The first step will be notifying everyone of their PIN (Personal Identification Number) so you can access the system. Watch for this coming in an email in the next couple of weeks.

Help "Team Ronald" Win the Heroes for the House Team Challenge
The 10th Annual Heroes for the House "Team Ronald" - is up and running for the big event on
Saturday, June 18 at 8:30 a.m. at White River State Park. Go to iremrunforronald.org t
o register. On page two of the registration form, use the drop down box to choose "Team Ronald" as your team affiliation.
You don't have to walk or run to be part of the team. Sign up, make a donation to our team and just show up and hang out for a couple of hours. If you can't make it on the day of the run, your shirt can be picked up the next time you are at the House.

Operations Update - Limestone
- When checking in a family, please be sure to write the vehicle description on the guest card along with the assigned parking tag number.
- Be sure we are telling families at check-in about the nightly fee while assuring them that if this is prohibitive we can make adjustments. If they have issues with paying the fee, direct them to speak to a manager about a reduction. There have been several families recently that have stated they didn't know about the nightly fee.
- We are continuing to capture insurance information for all check-ins on the white half-sheet form on the check-in desk.
- When families mention that they are checking out, be sure to remind them to bring their completed Guest Exit Survey to the front desk.
- Remember to offer a take home bag to families who are checking out. Take home bags are located under the counter in the front office.
- Since spring has arrived, be sure to review the severe weather procedures on the flip chart in the front volunteer office.
- Please remember to monitor the linens that are going down the laundry chute to make sure they don't include mattress pads or blankets. We prefer not to have to pay the linen service to launder these items when we can launder them ourselves at the House.
- If you are planning to take a leave of absence and need to miss multiple, consecutive shifts, please contact Mary Friend so she can adjust the schedule.

Reminder from Rhonda at the RMHI at Riley
- The RMH at Riley is proud to announce that Intern Kailey Vernon has been recognized as a Science Scholar by the IUPUI School of Science for the Fall 2015 semester. She is one of 230 students who have received this award for earning a cumulative and semester grade point average of above 3.75. Kailey's intention upon graduation is to become a physician's assistant. Way to go Kailey. We are so proud of you!

Volunteers Wanted
We are looking for some special volunteers to help with some special projects. If you are interested in learning more about any of the opportunities below, or if you know of someone who might be interested, please contact Mary Friend.
Service Group Host
Host some of our larger service groups. Meet with an operations staff member a few days before to discuss the details and then direct the group the day of their service project.
Courtyard Master
Limestone is in need of a Courtyard Master to maintain the courtyard and outdoor grills so our meal groups can provide great cookouts during the warmer months.
Drive the RMHCCIN van to transport House guests for regularly scheduled shopping runs. This volunteer will also assist in making deliveries between Limestone and the RMH at Riley.

| Look Who Was Caught Rolling Out The Red Carpet  Cindy Hutchison recently caught Craig Ito, Guest Services Volunteer (GSV) at Limestone, demonstrating friendliness, compassion and professionalism. Cindy wrote: "Craig was a huge help recently working a double shift to help cover for some folks that are on a leave. He also took the initiative to call the translator line to have a three way call with a Spanish only speaking family who was on the waiting list. He demonstrated great patience explaining everything that needed to be explained to the family." Thanks Craig! _________________________________________________________________ Congratulations Craig!
