At a press conference held March 31, the Honourable Jane Philpott, Minister of Health, announced Canadians Seeking Solutions and Innovations to Overcome Chronic Kidney Disease (Can-SOLVE CKD) as one of five successful research networks to receive $12.5 million of funding through the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR).
Can-SOLVE CKD is Canada's biggest effort to date to improve kidney health and the care of those with chronic kidney disease. Research will focus on a number of elements, including changes in care delivery, improvement of treatment therapies, and organ donation. Thanks to the efforts of researchers, The Kidney Foundation of Canada and Canadian Society of Nephrology, an additional $46.5 million has been raised by 30 organizations to support the project over five years.
