And It's Poetry Month!
And Spring arose on the garden fair,
Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere;
And each flower and herb on Earth's dark breast
rose from the dreams of its wintry rest.
- Percy Bysshe Shelley,  The Sensitive Plant

At last it appears Spring is here to stay! We had a great week, getting back to our regular schedule after completing the Smarter Balanced Assessments last week.  Lots of fun on the horizon...please take a few minutes to take a look below.

Montessori Moment
Maria Montessori: What You May Not Know
This was recently sent to us from Montessori Services, a Montessori resource.

* In 1911, the first American Montessori school opened in Tarrytown, New York.

A gifted speaker who never used notes, Montessori was described by the New York Tribune during her first visit to the United States in 1913 as "a woman who revolutionized the educational system of the world." In 1915, she returned to oversee her "glass classroom" exhibit at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco where attendees could watch the children at work. She also gave training courses for teachers.

Rock, Paper, Scissors
We recently came across this fabulous animation which presents a positive approach to discussing bullying. While it is an ad, it provides a great opportunity to talk with kids about this issue. Take a look...

Rock, paper, and scissors.  They couldn't be more different if they tried.  But despite their differences, they belong together and have become one of the most iconic, and beloved trios the world has ever seen.

Ms. Kelsey's Summer Camp:
On Monday, Danielle, an instructor from Ms. Kelsey's Dance Studio, came to school to lead a Hip Hop class for our Smarter Balanced Assessment taking 3-6 graders. They kids LOVED it, and the instructor left behind this flyer about their Summer Camp.
