Chamber Sees Record College Financial Aid Submissions

The Chamber announced topline results of its regional program to help more students and their families complete and submit financial aid forms before March 31. About 7,600 Central Texas high school seniors filed for financial aid in the first quarter. The increase of 800 filings year over year set a new regional bar for filings. In addition, a record 1,760 people attended one of the Chamber's 26 regional Financial Aid Saturdays program events during February and March, a 45 percent increase over the first quarter of 2015.

Part of the success of the filing effort was attributed to new incentives. Students had a chance to obtain VIP access to First Lady Michelle Obama's keynote panel for SXSW music and, for schools with the highest filing rates, the opportunity to win scholarships and VIP movie screenings from Alamo Drafthouse and C3-Presents.

Final rankings have been posted for the Chamber's 2016 FAFSA Contest-- click here to view the results on our blog.
