Improving Traffic in the City
Since incorporating 3 ½ years ago, Gwinnett County's newest city has seen commercial and residential construction increase dramatically. Among the new developments is the city's new 20-acre Town Center due to open in the fall of 2017.
There's no doubt that business is booming in this city by the river. But along with economic growth comes an increase in traffic. That fact has not been lost to city leaders who are making efforts to plan ahead for the city's growth.

City to Study Redevelopment Options for Aging Multi-Family Housing
At the March meeting, the City Council approved the launch of a study to develop strategies for the redevelopment of some of the city's aging multi-housing units, many which were built in the early 1990s.
"Finding ways to redevelop these older apartments was part of our recent study of the Holcomb Bridge Road/Outer Peachtree Corners Circle corridor," said Mayor Mike Mason.

Two Qualify for Post 2 City Council Seat
|
|
Residents who live in Post 2, will head to City Hall on Tuesday, May 24 to elect a new councilmember for their district.
Qualifying for the vacant seat:
- Eric Christ, 48, a business executive who has lived in Post 2 for the past 17 years and has served on the city'z Zoning Board of Appeals since the city was founded in 2012.
- Stephen Peet, age 60, a Senior Operations Manager and Post 2 resident for the past 27 years.

New Development in Technology Park
|
|
Lake-front millennial housing, walking trails, wine shop planned
At the March 15 meeting, the City Council unanimously approved the Twin Lakes Development, a nearly 39-acre project which will add commercial, multi-family and pedestrian trails in Technology Park.
The project combines 10 parcels located along Peachtree Parkway, Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, Technology Parkway and Guthridge Court. The Twin Lakes development includes a 295-unit high end millennial housing complex that will be built along the lake's shores and designed to attract the work force needed to support the high number of jobs in Technology Park.

City Council Elects Mayor Pro Tem
During the March 15 meeting, the City Council unanimously elected Councilmember Weare Gratwick (Post 6), as Mayor Pro Tem. In the position, Gratwick will assume mayoral duties in the event of the mayor's absence.
"It's really an honor to be selected," said Gratwick. "I'm pleased that the mayor and my fellow councilmembers have put their trust in me by selecting me as mayor pro tem."

City's Unemployment Rate 2nd Lowest in Metro Area
According to the latest report from the
Georgia Department of Labor, the city of Peachtree Corners has the second lowest unemployment rate among cities in the Atlanta metro area.
The unemployment rate for Gwinnett County's largest city is 2.6 percent according to a December 2015 preliminary report.

Maintain Lawn During Growing Season
Spring is here and grass and vegetation are starting to grow. Home owners/business owners are responsible for providing regular maintenance of their property's landscaping.
Front, side, and rear yards should be well maintained, mowed regularly and free from trash, weeds and overgrown vegetation. All residents are responsible for ensuring that their property is free from all litter and debris for health and sanitation reasons.
Having your property on a routine maintenance schedule is one way to guarantee your property will not have any code violations.

City Updates Noise Ordinance
The City Council recently reviewed and clarified the noise ordinance for Peachtree Corners. The ordinance addresses construction or repair of buildings, operation of trash and garbage trucks - and operation of domestic power tools, lawn mowers and other lawn maintenance equipment.

Did you know ...
Any person who goes door-to-door or house-to-house soliciting orders for sales, subscriptions or conducting business of any kind must first file an application with the city and obtain an occupation tax certificate.
All solicitors are also required to have a work permit from Gwinnett County. The county issues a picture ID badge which must be prominently displayed.
The ID badge is a white laminated card with the solicitor's name, photo, business name, and includes an expiration date.
The
Gwinnett County ID incorporates a silver sticker located in the lower right corner that reads "GCPD permit."
Call the Gwinnett County Police Department at 770-513-5700 to report solicitors who do not have the proper credentials.

What is the Chattahoochee River Corridor?
The corridor encompasses 2,000 feet along both sides of the Chattahoochee River. The corridor was established through the
in 1973 as a way of protecting the state's valuable resource.
It protects over 80 miles of the river that runs through the metro area, including Peachtree Corners.

If you have added Waste Pro's of Yard Trimming P
ickup Service, please remember it includes up to ten (10) bags per household.
Residents may also use a labeled container (marked yard trimmings) for yard waste pickup. Also accepted: bundled sticks no longer than three (3) feet) and 50 lb. limit (per bundle).

City Adds 60 New Businesses in March
Peachtree Corners City Hall processed new business tax certificates for a variety of businesses last month including a painting contractor, clothing store and several new restaurants.

Peachtree Corners Earns
'Tree City USA' Designation
Peachtree Corners was recently honored as one of state's newest "Tree City USA" communities.
Look for the new "Tree City USA" signs posted below the City Limit signs around town. The new signs were installed by the city's Public Works Department.

Sign Up for Great American Cleanup
City officials and the UPCCA are teaming up again this year to clean up streets around the city. The event is part of The Great American Cleanup
™ sponsored by
Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful.
This year's event is Saturday, April 23 from 9:30 - 11 a.m. (rain date Saturday, April 30, 9:30-11 a.m.)
The
Great American Cleanup™ represents the nation's largest annual community improvement program.

Volunteers will work in small teams to clean up litter and illegal signs around some of the roads in Peachtree Corners. All supplies, including a bright colored vest, gloves, bags, large grippers and water, will be provided.
Children 12 years old and above are invited to participate with an adult.

Calling All U.S. Veterans
Did you know that according to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are 1,654 veterans of our country's armed forces living in Peachtree Corners?
A non-profit organization, Peachtree Corners Veterans Monument Association (PCVMA), has been formed and is working on plans for Veterans Monument that will be located on the city's new Town Green..
The PCVMA is asking for all veterans to send in their contact information so they may be included on the Monument when it's unveiled next year.

The UPCCA is hosting the 5th annual Peachtree Corners COPS Meeting
at Christ the King Lutheran Church from 7 - 9 p.m., The meeting is open to everyone.
