Dear Pier 7 Community

We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all for being the eyes and ears of this Marina and for helping us out with your input, feedback and advice. In turn we felt that we should take this one step further by sending you all regular updates on the marina and the plans via email. This way we can keep you informed about what is going on and you should feel free to give us your thoughts and feedback.

Updates to Pier 7!!

Over the past few months Pier 7 Marina has been working very hard to continue our renovations in time for the new season. Here are just a few more of the projects we completed over the winter.

We completely renovated the bathrooms at the marina building! We think you will love the improvement!

We also added a pole for our feathery friends, the Ospreys, who have made Pier 7 their home for years. We had to relocate him because his nest was interfering with the electrical poles. Here are some cool facts to share with your friends and family about

Ospreys:
  • Ospreys often return to the same nesting area in the winter and summer's. In Pier 7's case him and his family return during the warmer months.
  • Young Ospreys make their first migration alone,  instinctively knowing where to go without their parents.
  • Ospreys fly more than 5,000 miles round trip between their summer and winter homes
  •   Ospreys are known as fish hawks because 99.9% of their diet is live fish. They also eat  small mammals, snakes, turtles, frogs, sandpipers, and ducks, perhaps when fish are scarce.
  • Female Ospreys are larger than males and usually have a heavily striped chest; males usually have a nearly clear white chest.
  • The oldest known Osprey was 32 years old.
