It's that time of year again - Forsyth County 4-Hers are selling asparagus, berry bushes, grapes, herbs, flowers, and more!
Download the order form to indicate how many of each plant you'd like. Please mail your completed form and a check to Forsyth County 4-H, 1450 Fairchild Rd., Winston-Salem NC 27105
by February 15. Plan to pick up your plants on Thursday, March 10 or Friday, March 11 between 8 :30 am - 6 pm.
The plant sale is Forsyth County 4-H's annual fundraiser. Your purchases help send young people to 4-H events, and provide scholarships for their project work. Thank you!

Crop Planning Publications
 It will be Spring before we know it, so it's time to plan what crops you'll plant! A Piedmont Garden Calendar can help you plan vegetable crop rotations. It has approximate planting dates for Spring, Summer, and Fall Vegetables, as well as summer and winter cover crops. FREE Seeds, Seeds, Seeds...
Once you've decided what to plant, come visit Forsyth Community Gardening's Seed Bank. Thanks to a generous donation from Lowe's Foods, we have tons of annual vegetable, herb, and flower seed packets for community gardeners! To set a time to pick up seeds, please contact Megan. If you start seeds indoors, mid-February is already time to sow broccoli, kale, and Swiss chard in flats for transplant in March or April!

¡Los jóvenes de 4-H están vendiendo espárrago, arbustos de bayas, uvas, hierbas, flores, y más! Descargue el formulario para indicar cuántas plantas quiere de cada uno. Por favor mande su formulario y un cheque a Forsyth County 4-H, 1450 Fairchild Rd., Winston-Salem NC 27105 a más tardar el 15 de febrero. Tiene que venir a traer sus plantas el jueves 10 de marzo o el viernes 11 de marzo entre las 8:30 am - 6 pm.

Semillas, Semillas, Semillas... ¡GRATIS!
Cuando haya decidido que quiere sembrar, venga a visitar el Banco de Semillas de Forsyth Community Gardening. There's still a bit of snow on the ground, but you can tell that Spring is around the corner from all the garden-related classes, workshops, and conferences in this newsletter - plus the 4-H Spring Plant Sale!
I'd like to highlight the upcoming Community Garden Mentor Training. Mentors are the hands and feet of Forsyth Community Gardening! These fantastic volunteers guide new gardens in getting started, and help existing gardens strengthen their organization and improve horticultural practices.
If your garden does not have a Mentor - or if you could use another helping hand - please consider applying for the Community Garden Mentor Training or encouraging other garden members to do so! It's the best thing you'll do for your garden all year, and you'll love being a part of the Mentor family. (Trust me - we have monthly potlucks, and these folks cook with the best veggies in all Forsyth County!) Please join us to lend your enthusiasm and talents to our community garden network.

MICROGRANT APPLICATION CYCLE EXTENDED!

Applications due March 1, 2016
Do you have a great idea for a garden project to improve nutrition, environmental quality, or social well-being in your neighborhood? Do you need just a little funding to make it happen? Apply for a microgrant from Forsyth Community Gardening! These $500 grants are available to garden groups that engage and benefit limited resource communities in Forsyth County.
We are now running a special application cycle, with applications accepted through March 1, 2016. If you would like to apply, please
read about the Microgrant Program, then
download an application to fill out.
Please note: To make microgrants more accessible, we have broadened the eligibility criteria and shortened the application compared to previous versions, so do take a look. We have resources to award at least 5 grants. Good luck!
