Calling generations of all nations to the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ!
Fulfilled Prophecy Reveals the Faithfulness of God

"Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, 'My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure';" (Isaiah 46:9-10).

Over the past three months in the MOS Gresham gathering, we have been studying apologetics as part of a nine month equipping and discipleship focus on evangelism. These men who seek to live simply and purely devoted to Christ believe Jesus' claim to be the Messiah, divine, and the only way of salvation. But, they have been learning that they must also prepare themselves to communicate effectively to others the evidence that validates Jesus' claims.

The men in MOS are learning that, as spiritual leaders and effective witnesses, they must be able to teach others about Jesus. They must "hold fast the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, so that [they] will be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict" Titus 1:9. They, like all believers, are instructed by the Apostle Peter to be "ready to make a defense (an argument or explanation) to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence" (1 Peter 3:15).

Knowing the fulfilled prophecies of God regarding the Messiah, Jesus Christ, is one way of being ready . Hundreds of biblical prophecies establish a "profile" so detailed of God's promised Messiah that accidental fulfillment is impossible. The probability of the fulfillment of just 48 messianic prophecies in the life of any man is 10 157 (Dr. Frank Harber, Sherlock's Faith , p. 91). Dr. Harber goes on to say "such a high level of probability indicates a supernatural agent." Furthermore, Jesus' enemies fulfilled many of the prophecies through their own actions, further validating the authenticity of the fulfillments. Just as Jesus did when talking to the men on the road to Emmaus, Christians need to learn how, beginning with Moses and with all the prophets, to explain to others the things concerning Jesus in all the Scriptures (see Luke 24:27).

Fulfilled prophecy reveals not only Jesus as Messiah, but it also reveals the glorious faithfulness of God. God "establishes His purposes, and accomplishes all His good pleasure." The fulfillment of the prophecies God establishes reveals His character of faithfulness. God is intentional about what He does. God keeps His Word. He never has to make excuses for not following through on what He says He will do. He keeps His commitments. God's faithfulness creates for us, as followers of Jesus, security and trust in Him. He is God and there is no other.

It is the faithfulness of God revealed in the fulfillment of biblical prophecy that leads us to ask some questions of ourselves. There is more here than informational knowledge or theological academics. Ask these questions of yourself as one who is called to be an imitator of God: Am I faithful? Am I intentional to do the will of God? Do I keep my word? Do I keep my commitments? Can those I lead trust me? Do I frequently commit myself to the wrong things and then find that I must break my word? Ask these questions in the context of your home, church, or work.

You may discover, as the Men of Simplicity have, that there is an area of your life where you have not been faithful to others or to the Lord Jesus. When we are not faithful, we must confess our sin and then ask God to guide and enable us to be faithful as He is faithful. " He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much. . . ." Luke 16:10
Men of Simplicity (MOS)

MOS has expanded to three ministry gatherings. Mike leads the weekly MOS meetings in Gresham, OR and travels monthly to Washington to lead teaching gatherings on the second Saturday of each month at 8:00 AM in Wenatchee and 11:30 AM in Moses Lake. The two Washington gatherings then meet again by church during the fourth week of each month for accountability, discussion of the teaching session, and to pray through what they have learned. Currently, at these gatherings, we are equipping an average of 62 men each month to live simply and purely devoted to Christ.

Plans continue for the start of a
Men of Simplicity gathering in partnership with Lake Bible Church in Lake Oswego, OR.  On Monday, April 4, the director of men's ministry, John Dotson, and three from the men's leadership team attended MOS Gresham to observe the accountability, discussion, and prayer format of MOS. Mike will speak at the their men's retreat on April 23, and lead weekly MOS gatherings at Lake Bible beginning Thursday night, September 8th.  Please join us in asking God to call forth men to participate in MOS Lake Bible.

Ministry in February and March

Mike preached Sunday, February 14th, at Quincy Baptist Church, a small church (16 in attendance) in Quincy, WA. Two men from the church also joined the MOS Moses Lake gathering the following month.

Youth Pastor, Jacob Phillips, from Greater Gresham Baptist Church, invited Mike to speak at their junior high mid-week youth gathering on February17. 32 students were in attendance; four indicated a decision to follow Christ during the invitation . Ministry with our home church continued as Mike was asked to lead a boys only breakout session during Fuel, the annual youth retreat. Teaching on "One God! No Idols!" resulted in brokenness, confession of sin, and commitments to remove the "idols" from their lives - especially that of pornography-by a number of the teen boys.

In February, March, and April, Mike had the opportunity to preach at Open Door Christian Academy chapel services for 6th-12th grade. In April, two indicated a decision to follow Christ during the invitation time.
