-we are entering our testing window with an unusual daily schedule (see below). It is critical that your students come to school on time every day!

-when the district calls a "late start" day due to weather conditions, we are NOT one of those schools, so please plan accordingly!

-there will be no school for students on Monday, April 11th, and the ACT will be on April 19th for juniors (seniors taking APEX are able to come in both of these days to work on their courses).

-due to the two snow days last month, the end of spirit week will be rescheduled for April 13-15th, with the pep rally taking place on the afternoon of Fri. 4/15

-Mr. TJ will be the evening of Fri. 4/15

-Night Out will be rescheduled...stay tuned for details!

PARCC Testing is Here!
Please note: participation rates for 2016 testing may impact SPF scores. All students are expected to attend school during these testing periods.
The PARCC online testing will begin at TJ in April.  Our 9th graders will take the PARCC ELA/Math test. The purpose of the state test is to formally assess how students can perform in regards to grade level Common Core Standards. This is also an accountability measure to ensure that schools are adequately preparing students. We will receive the results in much more timely fashion this year. This will allow us to adjust school-wide instructional strategies at the beginning of the year. I am glad to say this is a much better set up than last year.

9th graders will begin testing on April 6th.  We will work on an adjusted schedule so students will still attend all classes during our a djusted schedule.   See the modified schedule below.  All students are expected to attend school during this testing period
Please contact Julie Thibodeau at 720-423-7149 or [email protected]  with any questions.

PSAT 10 and ACT - free for all students!

Cutting Edge Art
The Denver Art Museum's new samurai exhibit arrives to inspire museum patrons.
On March 3, 2016, several reporters from the TJ Journal staff were able to attend a special media preview for Samurai: Armor from the Ann & Gabriel Barbier-Mueller Collection, the newest travelling exhibit at the Denver Art Museum. Along with reporters from other high schools, newspapers, and freelance work, these TJ students were able to take an in-depth guided tour of the exhibit before it opened to the public on March 6th. APEX Update
If a senior is making up credits on Apex, they need to be done by 13 May 2016 so everything can be graded in time for senior checkout on 17-18 May.  If they are not finished by checkout, they have until the 19 th to do so;  the final list of student who will be able to participate in the ceremony needs to be with the principal by end of day on Friday the 20 th.

As of 25 March, there will be 32 school days remaining for the seniors.  Ideally, a senior should have completed 81% of all of their apex coursework by then. We will have "senior days on apex" for students who are not done;  those are on 11 April and 19 April.

The district is moving to another vendor next year, and our contract with Apex will expire on 30 June 2016.  Students will lose all progress in their current class if their class is not completely finished.

The only way for them to get more time is to attend summer school.  The Program Manager for the district will send the information to counselors in April, and students must go through their counselors to enroll in summer school.

Swing into the Season
The girls' tennis team gets back into the swing of things with the new 2016 season.
Spring sports have officially begun their seasons, and the girls' tennis team is ready to rev up their competitive spirits. The team recently completed tryouts, and both new and old members are excited to play this year. This season, head coach Jeff Zinke plans to create an environment for the girls that is fun and enjoyable, yet also educational. Zinke wants the girls to be as educated about tennis as they are enthusiastic about playing it. "It's important to have fun and enjoy the sport while being knowledgeable about it," explained Zinke. "The only way to create that environment is through lots of time spent in practices with fun activities during practice." Read more
