Scholarships$
Montage Scholarship: Awarding 5 scholarships of $10,000 to 13-17 year olds who are community service leaders. Deadline is 09/09/15. More information here. 

Raise.me : Provides micro scholarships to 79 universities when student inputs grades, challenging classes, community service and extracurricular activities. More information here.

Create profiles with scholarship databases such as fastweb.com, sallie mae, Collegeboard, Unigo and Greenlight. You will receive information on scholarships that you qualify for. It's free and easy.
SAT/ACT Tutoring
Samueli Academy in partnership with Stepping up Testing Services is offering SAT/ACT tutoring. Tutoring will take place every Saturday between Jan 16th through Feb 27th from 8:30-11:30 AM on campus. The cost is $144 per student. This includes 7 sessions, a test prep workbook, a pre and post  SAT/ACT exam, and a specific student profile. Samueli Academy has committed to paying for half of the cost. We ask that students register and pay the $72 fee by Wednesday, December 16th. Paying in full guarantees a spot in the tutoring program. Students and/or parents must submit payment to Ms. Rocio.
Volunteer Work
The Youth Policy Institute (YPI) is seeking teen volunteers who can mentor and tutor students at Vista Heritage Charter Middle School. Students must be available to commit to 1-2 months of volunteering, 2-5 times per week.  If you want to learn more please see Ms. Rocio You can also visit the counseling website or wall for other locations.
Youth Leadership Summit-Math & Science

This is an opportunity for high school students to attend an interactive, half-day summit that will empower students to explore careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) field on October 24th. Students will receive valuable information about the workforce development trends in the county. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. The summit will take place at Edwards Life Sciences in Irvine from 8:45am-2:00pm. Students must provide their own transportation. If interested, please see Ms. Rocio. 

Titan Fast Pitch

Fast pitch is a 60 second verbal presentation of your pitch to sell your product or service. You work in a team of 3 students. Certificates will be given to all participants.  Cash prizes for the top 3 teams ($300, $200,$100). To register, click here.

PSAT/SAT/ACT Prep
Students are encouraged to visit Khan Academy to prepare for the college admission exams. Students are also invited to obtain an ACT or SAT application on their smartphones. 
Parent University
 Parent University will take place on Wednesday, October 14th from 5:30-7:35. Workshops on raising teens, freshmen 101, SAT Vs. ACT, and the College Admission Process. Please RSVP with Ms. Rocio
