Inside Sales Solutions establishes national headquarters in St. Petersburg, brings 50 new jobs inside

Inside Sales Solutions relocated from New York City to establish their national headquarters in the Innovation District of St. Petersburg. The company, which provides technology firms with personalized sales consulting, training, recruitment and lead generation services, works with well-established brands such as HP and IBM, as well as next generation business-to-business technology companies. Inside Sales Solutions considered Austin, Atlanta, and Kansas City before deciding that St. Petersburg would ultimately be the best fit.

"We're thrilled to establish our national headquarters in St. Petersburg," said Aidan Snee, principal at Inside Sales Solutions. "Pinellas is a thriving coastal community with the energetic workforce we hope to attract. Being a stone's throw from the University of South Florida St. Petersburg will be a boon to our recruiting efforts."

Inside Sales Solutions is located in 4,000 SF of space at 1431 4th Street South, bringing 50 new jobs to the area. This is at least the third company from New York City to relocate its headquarters to St. Petersburg recently, following iQor and Twinlab Consolidation Corp.

"The Sunshine City is recognized as a place for creative people and businesses. Companies realize that locating and expanding in St. Petersburg brings a competitive advantage because of our creative base of people," Mayor Rick Kriseman remarked. "We are an engine of innovation. St. Petersburg's unique sense of place brings people and ideas together in the most creative mix in all of Florida. The result is growing companies with growing revenue."

City launches streamlined plan review & permitting plans

The Construction Services and Permitting department has had a busy start to the year with new staff additions and improvements to help simplify and speed up the plan review and permitting process. The department will soon be adding two additional Fire Plan Examiners, a Civil Engineer Plans Examiner and a Lead Permit Technician to its full time staff in order to accommodate the increase of construction activity within the city.

In addition to the increased staff, Construction Services and Permitting has revamped their online permitting system -  www.stpete.org/permits has been updated with new resources, including a new Plan Review Checklist for residential and commercial construction. From the website, you may also apply for specific permits, schedule inspections, track your plan review status, and more! There is also a new feature www.stpete.org/developmentprojects that offers updates on large development projects located within St. Petersburg. Visitors have the option to subscribe to a project and receive notification of the latest project news.

A new "Stop, Drop and Go" application process has successfully launched with positive feedback. Qualifying projects may drop off an application and return within 48 hours to pick up the permit, eliminating the need to sit and wait for the review to complete. If you prefer to wait in the office for review, there is a new digital "queue" system that will keep you up-to-date on the estimated wait time. This new queue system will include the option of text message updates in case you need to step out of the office!

Preliminary Plan Review has proven to be an immensely successful process for new construction projects and helps to reduce the turnaround time for plan review. Preliminary Plan Review offers the opportunity to sit down with the Plans Examiners, before submitting plans, who help guide the planning of the project. Preliminary Plan Review helps to guarantee certain requirements will be met before submitting the plans for review, and in turn, reducing the number of resubmittals and fees for corrections.

Trop Site RFQ receives 15 responses rfq

The city received 15 responses to the RFQ for Development Master Plan Consultant for the Tropicana Field Property that was issued in late February. The chosen consultant will be asked to provide two redevelopment scenarios for the 85-acre property: one that redevelops the site with a new baseball stadium and one that creates an entirely new vision for the area without a stadium.

Several local firms responded, as well as firms from New York, Dallas, Los Angeles, Orlando, and Maryland. All responses can be viewed from the city's Economic Development webpage. A selection committee will review and rank the proposals and City Council is expected to approve a contract with the top-ranked consultant this summer.
St. Petersburg ranked a top weekend destination thrillist

The Thrillist recently acclaimed St. Petersburg as one of the Best US Cities to Spend a Weekend. The group examined 300+ American cities, with populations over 90,000, in terms of food, culture, museums, outdoor activities, transportation, and many other indicators, to develop a list of the top 25 must-visit destinations.

"St. Petersburg is quickly becoming the East Coast's answer to San Diego: a place once known for its impeccable beaches that's now the cool, smaller city with great beer, innovative food, and far fewer people to share it with than its larger neighbors," writes Matt Meltzer. Other major cities on the list include New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, Philadelphia, Portland, and Chicago.
All Children's Hospital Johns Hopkins Medicine renames itself as Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital johnshop

Starting this month, All Children's Hospital Johns Hopkins Medicine becomes Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital. The name change reflects the hospital's focus on research and innovation, while highlighting its affiliation with the internationally renowned Johns Hopkins Health System.

In 2011, All Children's became the first U.S. hospital outside of the Baltimore/Washington, D.C. region to join Johns Hopkins Medicine. Five years later, the hospital started a new medical residency program, increased operating revenue, and began construction of a $85 million research and education facility.

"Our new name honors our longstanding tradition of excellence in pediatric care and directly connects us to Johns Hopkins, a globally respected name in health care. The timing of our 90th year of service makes this a perfect time to make the announcement," said a statement from the hospital.
