Andrew Smith has more than 9 years of pharmaceutical research experience. As an Associate Scientist and Project Director at Lyophilization Technology, Inc. (LTI), he is responsible for project coordination from concept through Process Engineering. He is also lead Project Director for Thermal Analysis studies.
Andrew attended Drexel University, majoring in Biomedical Engineering, with a concentration in Tissue Engineering and Biomaterials. His career began in 2004 with his first Drexel-sponsored internship at NASA. There he explored the field of oximetry, performing experiments using Dynamic Light Scattering and Autofluorescence. He then furthered his career in pharmaceutical science during an internship at Elan NanoSystems in 2006. At Elan he employed the company's NanoMill® technology to process water insoluble compounds and started on his career path in lyophilization.
Andrew started at LTI as a Development Technician I in 2007. Over the years, he has been promoted to Development Technician II, III, Technical Associate, and to his current role as Associate Scientist. He is involved in conducting client projects including product and process development, technical support, troubleshooting, as well as clinical manufacturing.
