The Lord's plan and enabling power were shown last month when Debbie was able to carry through with her commitment to speak at a women's ministry event at our home church, Greater Gresham Baptist. Debbie first accepted the invitation to speak before developing symptoms and being diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis. Her speech was one of the areas most severely affected by the autoimmune condition which left her and others wondering: was it still God's plan for her to be the one to present the message? There was a resounding, "YES!" of faith and anticipation from the women's ministry team and other event leaders. Prayers began in earnest. Even a week before the event, Debbie was struggling to speak clearly for more than a few minutes at a time. [continued below]

Then, during a day of retreat for prayer and preparation, Debbie heard from the Lord about how she was to deliver the message He had given her - which would require more than 30 minutes of speaking. Just as God spoke these words to Moses about Aaron, in Exodus 4:15, "You are to speak to him and put the words in his mouth; and I, even I, will be with your mouth and his mouth, and I will teach you what you are to do," the Lord impressed upon Debbie to have a partner, someone who could read the Scripture passages she would refer to, in order to give her speaking muscles small rests during the message. And it quickly became clear who this partner should be: Jordan! Our oldest daughter is an eloquent reader and was quick to agree to minister alongside her mother for the Fine Linen women's event on June 21st. Together, they challenged women about the two-fold aspect of the righteousness of the Bride of Christ: righteousness that can only be given by God through Christ and righteous acts that the Bride offers to the Bridegroom out of love and obedience.

Central Baptist Church Monmouth, OR

On June 15th, Mike preached the message, "Dad, I'm Watching You," as a challenge to men at Central Baptist in Monmouth, Oregon.   Men, young and old, responded to Mike's invitation to a "men's only" huddle at the conclusion of the service, as he called them to biblical manhood and their roles as leaders in their homes, church and community.
