CIRCLE OF PARENTING

WEDNESDAYS

10:30AM to 11:45am

January 14th to March 18th

(10 weeks )

Instructors: Mary Kerrigan & Carol Castanon

New babies bring profound transitions to families. Questions may arise about a baby's attachment and well-being, crying, holding, feeding and sleeping. Explore your new role as a mother or father, how it feels and what you need, while in the company of other parents and professionals. Together, we'll build skills in observing and learning about infants and young tots - learning a baby's perspective while finding calm, exploring infant / tot parent partnerships, attachments and trust. This group is observed by students studying first relationships/child development and our clinical supervisor, Dr. McKeon. Dr. McKeon is available during class for attachment perspectives.

NTNC BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT GROUP  &

NEW BABY GROUP  (0-6 months)

Join us weekly to talk about breastfeeding and share your journey with others.  Find out what is normal during early days and later stages, have your questions answered, and share wisdom about feeding-related topics such as sleep, pumping, returning to work and more.   A scale will be available to weigh your baby. Breastfeeding support is provided by a NTNC lactation specialist

Also enjoy the support of other mothers and class facilitators in our New Baby playgroup, that is combined with the breastfeeding support group.  New babies bring joy, but also change and transition. Questions may arise about well-being, crying, holding and what "should or can I be doing with my baby?" Explore your new role with other new parents.  Share birth and other new family stories.  Learn about your baby's as well as your own personal development.  Dads and all caregivers welcomed and encouraged to attend.

Prenatal Breastfeeding Class

with Darcy Wronkiewicz, CD (DONA), CLEC

Monday
December 15th
6:30pm to 9:00pm

Breastfeeding is the natural way to feed your baby, yet the skill of feeding your baby at the breast is learned. Come discuss the following questions:
How will I help my baby breastfeed well? What kind of behavior can I expect from my newborn baby? How will I know my baby is getting enough milk? How will I avoid or treat breastfeeding related pain? What kind of challenges might I face in the first few weeks following my baby's birth? How will breastfeeding affect my lifestyle? Where will I get help or support if I need it?
Darcy is a certified doula (labor support person), birth educator, and lactation counselor serving families in Ventura, Santa Barbara and adjacent cities. She lives in Ventura with her husband and three children.
