FEBRUARY 2015

INTERIM CEO MESSAGE

I arrived as the Interim CEO at Hammond-Henry Hospital on January 5, 2015. I have been impressed with the commitment each staff member has demonstrated to providing excellent care to patients, in alignment with our mission, "To improve the quality of life in our communities through excellence in healthcare". Additionally, as I have interacted with members of the community, they would enthusiastically agree that Hammond-Henry has improved the quality of life in their community.

I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the employees, physicians, community members, and most importantly the patients of Hammond-Henry Hospital. There are so many great things happening here. During my time at Hammond-Henry I will strive to facilitate our staff and physicians ability to provide superior, evidence-based care to patients and create a great environment in which they can find inspiration and joy in their work. As a team, we will continue to be involved with the community to ensure we are improving the quality of life for all of you who call Geneseo and the surrounding communities "home".

We have many challenges in this time of transformation throughout the healthcare system. However with the support of the community and the commitment of excellent staff, Hammond-Henry Hospital has accomplished much over the last few years that should give us all confidence in their ability to succeed in the future. A 30-month construction project, "Designed to be Patient Kind", was recently completed remodeling the entire facility to better serve our patients and their families. Hammond-Henry Hospital was recently recognized for providing excellent care to patients, being designated as a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital by iVantage and Top 100 Community Hospital by Becker's Hospital Review. I am confident there will be more such recognitions in the future as we continue to provide compassionate, high quality care to patients.

Thank you for welcoming me so warmly into your family at Hammond-Henry Hospital and into the Geneseo community. You have much to be proud of.

Auxiliary Fundraiser

HHH Auxiliary
presents
Islands of New England

Looking for a fun get-way?  Plan now to travel with HHH Auxiliary to the Islands of New England, September 18-25, 2015.  New England's miles of sandy beaches, majestic coasts, and rolling surf invite relaxation. The Islands of New England tour spends eight days exploring New England's charms, from the cobblestone streets of Nantucket to a traditional cranberry bog. Step back in time at Plimouth Plantation to sample recipes from that time, learn some pilgrim etiquette and enjoy a thanksgiving feast, learning to eat like a Pilgrim. The choice is yours - set out on a whale watch cruise or embark on a scenic adventure through the iconic sand dunes of the Cape. Visit Boston and Providence, the Gilded Age mansions of Newport, the lively artist colony of Provincetown, and the beautiful islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Complete your New England experience as you indulge in a traditional lobster feast.

If you would like to find out more about the trip, plan to come to an informational meeting on Wednesday, February 11, 2:00 p.m. at the hospital conference room. Brochures are available in the hospital's gift shop. For more details call Mary Anne at 944-6113 or email: bestmp@theinter.com

Foundation Update

  Foundation Year End

Project

North Entrance Remodel

The total funds received from the Foundation year-end appeal letter was $42,000, which is a record high for this fundraiser. Darcy Hepner stated, "It was such a joy to receive this overwhelming response from the community and for that we are thankful."

This year's funds have been designated for the north entrance remodel project. The project will include:  additional heat in the entrance, LED lighting, slope concrete, paint for safety areas, and aesthetic items. We hope to complete all of these projects by spring. The hospital is very appreciative of all donors for this project. These updates will provide a safer and more comfortable environment for all.

Free2Play Program

Hammond Henry is proud to announce a Free2Play (F2P) pilot program partnership with Southwest Elementary School.  The six week F2P program was designed utilizing the world-class movement literacy program developed by the Gray Institute in Adrian, Michigan. Once a week a team of therapists & movement specialists work with Philip Moe's first grade physical education class to teach three dimensional exercise progressions and sign language. The goal is to encourage each child to utilize 3D exercises, their gifts, and talents in promoting healthy and fun activities for their friends, families, and community. The F2P program empowers every child to be an athlete and further develops their appreciation for exercise and movement.  For more information please contact the Rehab Services Department at 309-944-9150.
