Build a Better Easter Basket

"The Good News of Easter is for every day. Christ is our Good Shepherd and He will always care for his flock. That love stays with us, no matter where we go or what we do."

Baptize your Easter Basket
Can an Easter basket contain more than a sugar high? Absolutely! With a little extra shopping effort, some scraps of paper, and a handful of bible verses, we can help our kids connect the gifts of their faith with the festivities of the day. Consider filling a basket with the following items, each of which has a true Easter connection.

A Lenten Message from The National Church

[Episcopal Public Policy Network] And God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food." Genesis 1:29

The barren landscape of winter with its naked tree limbs and hard, frozen ground is hardly evocative of fertility, reproduction, and new life. Yet we know that these processes continue beneath the visible surface of things, and we have faith that the earth will spring back to life in a few weeks, growing a harvest that will nourish us throughout the year.

Lenten Blood Drive March 28th

On Saturday, March 28, we are having our first 2015 blood drive. What better time to offer the gift that can save a life than in Lent, the season that leads us to our Lord shedding his blood to save our lives!

I need the help of every one of you who gives regularly. Help us publicize this ministry. Tell another member how fulfilling it is to help an unknown person in need - perhaps to save a life! Tell them how quick and easy it is! Remind them that blood is a precious substance that comes from only one source - the arm of a healthy grateful servant with 40 minutes to spare! You can even tell them how good the cookies are!

Sign up in the narthex to join us, and save a Life, in the name of our Lord!

Your brother in Christ,

Dudley Baker

New Thrift Shop Curb Appeal
Here we see Bob Beyer surveying the latest of the gardens that he has added to the landscaping in the Parish Hall-Thrift Shop areas. This garden adds a lot  of curb appeal to the Thrift Shop with water-sparing plants that will grow easily in the new bed.

Bob thanks Brian McElligott for helping with the bed preparations. They constructed the garden with rocks and mulch that was readily available here on the campus, and landscape designs and plants donated by Lana and Bob Beyer.

Although some of the plants are small now, they will take off and grow this Spring and beautify the campus. We greatly appreciate Bob's efforts in lending his knowledge, expertise and time in adding so much beauty to our Resurrection campus.
Volunteer Opportunity
for
Drive A Senior North

Drive A Senior - North Central is a neighborhood - based non-profit agency that provides free transportation and other support services for persons over the age of 60 living in north central Austin. There is no financial qualification to use Drive A Senior's services. Anyone age 60 or over who lives in our service area can call for transportation and other assistance. All our services are provided by volunteers.

This is where you come in. We are actively recruiting new volunteer drivers. Retired persons or stay-at-home moms are especially needed, as most of our drives occur during weekday hours. Volunteers must attend a one-hour orientation, have a valid driver's license, current liability insurance and pass a criminal background check. We also provide additional liability insurance for all our volunteers.

If you have 3 hours a month to help get a senior to the grocery store or doctor, we can use your help. Someone you know needs Drive A Senior. Please call us at 512-453-2273.
