Summer is finally here, and while there is no shortage of events in Dana Point, hopefully you've got one or more trips planned. While you may be tempted to check your work e-mails during your vacation, ever-ready in case of a work emergency, resist that temptation and unplug! Instead of bringing work with you on your trip and letting it interrupt time with friends and family, set up an awesome out-of-office reply for your email, kick back, and enjoy your break knowing your inbox won't be flooding with unnecessary emails.

Can you please tell us a brief history of your business?
Doheny Builders Supply has been family owned since the day it began passing from generation to generation in the Clow family. In 1969, we began as a lumber yard called Serra Lumber run by Robin & Tracy's father, Norm. Serra Kauai was run by Bobbi Clow, Robin & Tracy's mom. Today, Robin Clow, has taken the reins and Doheny Builders is still committed to offering the same quality and service that its customers had come to expect. Growth has not diminished the "family-owned business" feel of the Doheny Builders. Today, we have departments specializing in doors and windows, custom mill working, doors & window, landscaping, rebar, customer deliveries, and each person is a vital part of the company's operation and success.
Doheny Builders Supply based in Capistrano Beach, California, is your source for all types of construction and landscaping materials, from windows and doors to masonry, landscaping, moulding and hardware. You will find everything you need right here. Getting our start as Serra Lumber, a full-service lumberyard in 1969, we have since branched out to provide all types of building materials for all types of projects. Can you tell us a fun fact about your business that most people wouldn't know?
We have a great jingle & fun video on our website. Each year, Doheny Builders Supply has vendor events for its customers. These events feature products sold at DBS with live music and food. It's a great opportunity to share product knowledge with our customers and build community. Do you have any piece of advice for new businesses owners?

Summer Intern, Lulu Erkeneff
|
|
Hi, my name is Lulu Erkeneff. Born and raised in Dana Point, I enjoy surfing and hanging out at beaches like Salt Creek and Strands. After graduating from Dana Hills High, I began my undergraduate education at the University of California, Santa Barbara. I am currently a second-year student studying biological sciences, with aspirations of medical school or other types of research.
On a typical summer day, I'll catch a class of yoga, go on jog, and head to the beach. I also really enjoy playing baseball or kicking around a soccer ball with friends, cooking up s'mores at bonfires, and watching the sunset. Other things that I get a kick out of are Law and Order: SVU marathons, watching (and re-watching) episodes of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia or Parks and Recreation, and chasing my family's three spunky cats around the house. There are a few simple ways to characterize the "two types of people in life." Of those, I am a morning person, pro-Taylor Swift, a cat person (without question), and an avid Spongebob enthusiast.
This summer, you can catch me helping out around the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce!

4th of July Fireworks Extravaganza
in the Dana Point Harbor
Fireworks will light up the night sky on the 4th of July at 9:00pm. Don't miss one of South Orange County's best aerial fireworks displays on the water. You can see the fireworks from most locations within the Harbor as well as from Heritage Park and Lantern Bay Park above the Harbor. Gather the family and friends, tune your radio to KSBR 88.5FM, look toward the skies over Dana Point Harbor/Doheny State Beach and experience this patriotic extravaganza. The fireworks are synchronized to a captivating musical score.
Please take the FREE City Shuttle from Dana Hills High School that runs 10am-11:00pm consistently all day to and from the Harbor. There will be an inter-harbor shuttle to drop visitors off at Baby Beach, The Bridge and the Restaurant/Retail area from 10am-8:45pm. The road into the Harbor will be closed to traffic at 7:30pm until after the fireworks, so get there early or take the shuttle!
