Don't forget to register for the 40th annual Center for Great Plains Studies symposium. The April 1st-4th symposium is a collaboration with the Daugherty Water for Food Institute and the National Drought Mitigation Center and features over 40 distinguished speakers, including Ian Frazier, The New Yorker; Richard Hornbeck, Harvard University; Erwin de Nys and Nathan Engle, World Bank; Jason Clay, World Wildlife Fund; Michelle Podgornik, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; and Theib Oweis, International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas.

 Water & Natural Resources Tour
The 2014 Water and Natural Resources Tour will travel to Colorado and Wyoming July 15-18 to examine a variety of surface and groundwater issues in the North and South Platte River basins and look at some of the outcomes of this year's flooding on the South Platte River. The tour will include visits to reservoirs that are part of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation's North Platte irrigation project and many other stops. The tour will begin and end in Kearney. Check the Nebraska Water Center's Water Current newsletter, website or Facebook page for more details. We expect to open registration some time in early May.
