Last Chance for Scholarship Applications

The deadline to apply for a 2015 IAPD is February 13, 2015. The annual IAPD scholarship is awarded in amounts up to US$4,500 to worthy students at the undergraduate or graduate level who are:

an employee of an IAPD member company, a child of an employee of an IAPD member company or enrolled in a full-time degree program majoring in polymer science. College-bound high school seniors are eligible to apply for the IAPD scholarship.

 

Scholarship recipients are ranked based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities and financial need. Completed applications must be submitted electronically by Friday, February 13, 2015. Join the Relay for Life Team

 IAPD's Women in Plastics Common Interest Group has organized a fundraising team to participate in the Relay for Life� event being held at Lafayette College in Easton, PA, USA on April 25, 2015.  Please join the team "Respire to Inspire" and help raise money for cancer research.  

 

Participating in this event or simply making a donation gives you the opportunity to celebrate a loved one who has won their battle against cancer, remember those no longer with us and fight back against a disease that affects so many people and their families.

 

With the donations that we receive more people everywhere will:

  • Have the information and tools needed to avoid getting cancer or find the disease early, when it is easier to treat
  • Have a place to turn for help 24/7
  • Benefit from the progress being made toward finding cancer's causes and cures
  • Get access to life saving screening and treatment

Please join team "Respire to Inspire" in fighting cancer by either signing up to participate in this event or making a donation to help us reach our goal of $5,000. Every dollar raised brings us one step closer to a world with less cancer and more birthdays. IAPD Welcomes New Member T�cnica Industrial de Pol�meros, S.A. de C.V. 
IAPD) is pleased to announce that T�cnica Industrial de Pol�meros, S.A. de C.V. (TIPSA), a manufacturer, has joined the association. The company is headquartered in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico. TIPSA recently celebrated its 30th anniversary of serving the plastics market in a wide variety of industrial and commercial fields, including but not limited to: mechanical parts, mining, beverage, steel mills, paper mills, flour mills, food industry and more. TIPSA manufactures and supplies nylon (cast parts and shapes), extruded PA, POM and UHMWPE (rods and plates) and injection molded parts. According to company officials, TIPSA joined IAPD in order to introduce its products into the United States and Canadian markets through the established and trusted distribution channels IAPD has to offer, as well as expand TIPSA's network of potential suppliers for raw materials required for its Mexican manufacturing operation. TIPSA's Founding Partner and General Manager Jorge Lozano and the entire staff at TIPSA are honored and excited to become a member of the IAPD family. Asahi/America Names Daniel S. Anderson President and CEO
Asahi/America, Inc. has announced the promotion of Daniel S. Anderson to the office of president and CEO, effective January 1, 2015. Former President and CEO Hidetoshi Hashimoto will remain with the company as chairman of the board of directors. Anderson has been with Asahi/America since November 1988 as senior vice president of sales and marketing. He thanked Hashimoto for his leadership and for growing Asahi/America into a self-sustaining company.

Atlas Fibre Company Adds to Territory Management Sales Team

The Atlas Fibre Company has recently made two additions to its Territory Manager sales team:

 

Darrell Booton has been promoted from inside sales to territory manager for the Midwest states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky.  "Darrell has been with us for 16 years and during that time has proven to be an extremely knowledgeable expert on thermoset materials and their applications," said Mark Mush, national sales manager.  "He provides Atlas Fibre a strong voice in the field with his knowledge of our materials and their applications which is what our customers expect from us." Booton will be based out of northern Illinois, USA.

 

Mendy Gordon has been hired as territory manager for the Northeast United States and Eastern Canada.  Previously Gordon had spent six years with Harvel Plastics/Georg Fischer Harvel and has been actively involved with the IAPD for the past four years.  "We are looking forward to Mendy bringing her excellent plastics sales skills along with a strong sense of enthusiasm and passion for the plastics industry," said Mush. "The addition Mendy to our sales force continues Atlas Fibre's history of providing the best customer service in the industry." Gordon will be based out of the Philadelphia, PA, USA area.
