On December 3, 2014, the Diocese of Orange and the Orange Catholic Foundation (OCF) announced a $20 million gift to renovate, restore and  transform our 34-acre Christ Cathedral campus into a center of faith, culture, ecumenical outreach and service to the materially poor.

The $20 million gift is the largest capital campaign gift in the history of our Diocese and will be contributed over a multi-year pledge period exclusively for the renovation of the Christ Cathedral campus

This faith-filled donor, who has chosen to remain private, was inspired by our Diocese of Orange's stewardship of the cathedral property and by our commitment to ecumenical outreach and to creating an inspiring center of Orange County where faith, culture and the arts are celebrated by all. "I am blessed to offer my faithful and financial support to the Diocese's efforts to restore and renovate the campus and make its vision for Christ Cathedral a reality," said the private donor. "I hope this gift will inspire other donors in our community to give as well."

Plans for the renovation of the cathedral and campus are well explained and beautifully illustrated in the video, Christ Cathedral: A Transformation.

During this Advent season of giving, we are truly grateful to our generous anonymous donor and to all the donors in our diocese who are helping us realize our ambitious vision to create a place of welcome where all can celebrate, learn and know they are loved by God.

Additional details about this transformational gift are available in our news release

Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more. - Luke 12:48

The Orange Catholic Foundation (OCF) is now ranked as the 3rd largest nonprofit organization based in Orange County by the Orange County Business Journal. The publication made this announcement in their December 8-14, 2014 edition.

Cindy Bobruk

Cindy Bobruk, the foundation's Executive Director, credits the generosity of our donors for this first-time honor and ranking. "In 2013, we worked with our pastors and parishioners across the Diocese to launch the parish phase of our first-ever Diocesan capital campaign, For Christ Forever. More than 24,000 families and individuals shared our vision to financially support our faith, our Church and our future. Going forward, we will ensure that the legacy of our Catholic faith will continue to grow and impact our community and our lives today and in the decades to come."

Our #3 ranking on the list of 86 nonprofits was based on total revenue, grants and expenses during OCF's fiscal year of January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2013.  For more information regarding our 2013 revenue, grants, programs and expenses, please see our Annual Report and Annual Report Summary.

On behalf of our priests, religious, seminarians, students, faculty, staff, parishioners and people in the Diocese of Orange who directly benefit from the support of our donors, please know that "WE GIVE THANKS" to you as we journey together in faith.

Our community of communities at the Diocese of Orange give thanks!

We are happy to share terrific news with you regarding our Catholic schools. The success and growth of our schools were featured in a front page article entitled "Returning to Catholic Schools" that appeared in the Orange County Register (OCR) on December 5.

The Orange County Catholic (OCC) also reported on the increased enrollment in their article, "Catholic School Growth" published on October 22.

Both articles report that enrollment in our schools has increased. And the best news of all is that the three Marian Alliance schools in Santa Ana (St. Joseph, St. Anne and the School of Our Lady) showed an increase of 58 students (10 percent). All three schools are participating in a unique teacher education program through the University of Notre Dame Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) that assigns young Notre Dame trained teachers to the schools.

A limited number of tickets are still available for The Messiah to be held in the Arboretum at Christ Cathedral campus on the evening of Thursday, December 18.

To order tickets online visit www.MessiahReturns.Eventbrite.com.
