MOBILE APPS TRACK YOU WHILE YOU SLEEP

Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University determined your Smartphone shares your location once every 3 minutes!  

A recent study released by researchers at Carnegie Mellon University - discussed in the Wall Street Journal - followed daily Android smartphone use by 23 people over a two week period. Using specially-designed software, the researchers observed location data requests from each device during normal daily use. Shockingly, researchers discovered that many popular Android apps shared location data information about every three minutes. This revelation prompted Norman M. Sadeh, a Carnegie Mellon professor who co-wrote the study to ask "Does Groupon really need to know where you are every 20 minutes?"
