Winter Weekend for Parents and Families 

REGISTER NOW
for Winter Weekend for Parents and Families, February 19-22, 2015. Take advantage of discounts on accommodations, pre-register and pay for lift tickets, and enjoy activities both on campus and off!

 


The deadline to purchase lift tickets for Snowbird, Alta, Canyons, Park City, or Deer Valley ski resorts is Thursday, February 12 at midnight (Mountain Time). The $20 Winter Weekend registration fee includes the entire family and supports the Westminster Student Hardship Fund.

 

When you arrive on campus, check in at the front desk of the Eccles Health, Wellness, and Athletic Center to get an updated Winter Weekend schedule, your lift tickets, coupons, and a campus map. Lift tickets will be available for you or your student to pick up beginning Wednesday, February 18 at the Health and Wellness Center (open from 6:00 am-11:00 pm).

Scholarships and Financial Literacy 

 

Does your student need a scholarship for the coming year? The Continuing Student Scholarship application is due Monday, January 26 at 5:00 pm. Learn more here and access the online application.

  

During Winter Weekend, the Office of Financial Aid will host a Financial Literacy Fair for students, families, and employees. The Fair will take place in the Shaw Center on Thursday, February 19 from 11:00 am-2:00 pm. Meet representatives from banks and credit unions, as well as CPAs and CFPs. Learn more about retirement planning, student loan repayment, credit reports, identity theft, and more!  

 

Stay in the Loop for First Year Parents
 
Important academic deadlines? Time and stress management? Getting support? Parents of First Year students can stay informed about all things academic through the START Center.
Housing Selection Time for 2015-2016

The Westminster Freshman-Sophomore Living Experience is designed to provide students with the best possible college experience. The housing selection process begins the first week of March. Second-year options include the following residences:    
Stock Hall
Stock Hall houses between two and six individuals, with each person having his/her own bedroom. This residence hall is equipped with washers and dryers, billiards, and lounges.Meal plans are required in this housing option.
 
 
Century and Villa Darvi Apartments
Students living in Century and Villa Darvi Apartments located on Douglas Street and a short walk from campus share a bedroom with one other individual. Meal plans are not required in this housing option.  
 

Westminster on the Draw
These apartments, across from Sugar House Park, house between three and five individuals, with each person having his/her own bedroom. This building includes a workout room, patio with BBQ grills, and lounges. Meal plans are not required in this housing option. 
Share a Job or Internship with Westminster Students

Every week, employers post 120-150 jobs and internships for Westminster students and alumni. We are always looking for even more opportunities for our students and recent graduates!

Does your company or organization have a current internship or job opening that you are willing to share? If so, you can email us with the details and we can add your posting to our list of active jobs and internships.

Or, your company can reach Westminster students through our regional network of career services departments at Rocky Jobs for free! Please include a complete description, qualifications required, closing date, and application instructions. (Unpaid internships should meet current legal requirements.)
Athletes Score Big Through Fan Giving

 

By giving $82,000 so far to athletic teams or the Griffin Athletic Program, more than 150 parents and other Griffin fans have become members of the Griffin Club. Gifts to the athletic program or specific teams enhance student-athletes' experience through the purchase of equipment and increased scholarship support. In other athletics news, The Westminster Athletic Department will induct Walter Love, Bill Sedgewick, and Larry Watson into the Athletic Hall of Fame in February. The college will also recognize the 42 graduating student-athletes who play for our 17 athletic teams.


The 2015 Athletic Hall of Fame Celebration and Senior Student-Athlete Recognition will take place on Friday, February 20 with a reception and dinner for the inductees and the senior student-athletes. Those attending Friday's event will be welcome at a reception for the inductees on Saturday, February 21, at 7:00 pm before the Griffins men's basketball game against Montana State-Northern. The inductees will also be recognized during halftime of the basketball game. Click here for more information or to RSVP.

 

80,000 Hours of Community Service 
For the eighth consecutive year, the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) has named Westminster to the 2014 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. The organization recognizes institutions of higher education that support exemplary community service programs and raise the visibility of effective practices in campus community partnerships.

Westminster Ethics Bowl Headed to Nationals

The Westminster College Ethics Bowl Team has once again nabbed a national spot during the 2014 Wasatch Regional Ethics Bowl competition held at Westminster in November. The students will compete at the National Ethics Bowl competition in Costa Mesa, California next month.
